Sights & Landmarks

Butler's Orchard is a family-oriented farm that offers various activities, including pick-your-own patches, hayrides, and a kids' play area. They also have a market and cafe where you can purchase their delicious produce and products. One of the main attractions is the pumpkin festival where you can enjoy hot cider and yummy donuts. The corn maze and other stations are enjoyable for both kids and adults alike.

Amazing and kid-friendly orchard! I come here in the Summer, Fall & Winter. They have festivals filled with great things to eat, amazing produce and pick-your-own fruits! You can also get Christmas Trees and the animals are so cute! The admission isn’t that expensive and this is a must-do if you have young children. Also has an amazing market where you can get pies, fruit and even sauces that are locally made! This is the best orchard in the DC-Baltimore Area!

My mom and I really enjoyed the fall pumpkin festival. There was awesome kettle corn, large juicy apples for picking and colorful pumpkins! Lots to do for the kiddos, including a big slide, corn maze and pony rides! I wouldn’t bother with paying to feed goats. They get quite full and feed is leftover if you’re so inclined. I recommend getting here early if you want to find parking and make the most out of the day. Only portable toilets on the grounds so be mindful if bringing kids. Really great place to spend the day!

What a country gem right next door to our growing city! We have visited Butler’s orchard several times to pick strawberries or apples and for some of their kid friendly outdoor fairs. We’ve also visited their country store to buy local produce, crafts and baked goods. In the fall, it’s a great place for pumpkins. If you go strawberry picking, you can bring your own containers to save a few dollars. They will weigh the containers and deduct that weight from the produce cost. Pick a lot and freeze the rest! You’ll be making strawberry pancakes and smoothies all year long.

There are so many fun activities to enjoy with kids! During the summer, we had a fantastic experience picking raspberries, which was a highlight of our trip. We also discovered an amazing store that added to the adventure. It was a memorable time filled with laughter and delicious treats!

Aigerim Z — Google review

Recommend to come in the morning.Tastes of the strawberries vary a lot. Worth taking time to pick the ones. The market at the entrance have some cute mushroom pots, good chocolate milk, and sweet n salt mix

Wow is all I can say! We hosted our team bonding experience with Butler’s Orchard and Erica Seib their Office Manager and Jay their Executive Chef made everything just wonderful. They went above and beyond to make sure all our needs were met and then some. Convincing our team to come back next year for a fall event 😊, if you’re wondering about hosting your event here… look no further. Communication was great and timely - every detail of our event was taken care of. We had the party barn and hosted about 35 people + kids…. event contract also included a picking activity (ours was apple picking) 🍎

Too many people, but they never run out of stuff. Plus a nice small collection of old tractors and other equipment. They continously have been expanding available entertainment and food options. The immediate priority is as seems to design and open a quick and easy way to reach the property from the main road.

Lev F — Google review

This is a great little fall spot not far outside of DC. Butler's does a great job of offering many of the fall activities in a methodical and spaced out manner, which reduces crowding. The fall festival is a fun time, if aimed more for kids, and the entry fee feels reasonable for the activities. The pumpkin patch was a little small and barren but later in the season is to be expected. The market is packed with tasty treats though crowded for its tight layout. It's a great fall day out.

Shane W — Google review

Vinland saga activity ensued (without the not as nice parts)…I have no enemies. Part of the journey is the end but we have not yet reached that part. My experience at butlers orchard was nothing subpar to delightful. The vibes were clean, the people were chill, the fruits were fruiting, activities were activated. Alhamdulillah very very nice. I spent time with the strawberries primarily although my team really wanted to see the peas & the animals as well but alas time was not on our side that day.The shop was also very nice with very pleasant people working there of all different ages which made it feel homely! Everyone so helpful and just giving. The fresh fruit slushees are a must try if you can handle the cold. All in all will definitely return and bring friends, family or my *redacted* if she one day decides to show up & I follow through. Happy for u if figure that part out tho thank u.Thanks for a good timeBest,Watashi

My daughter had fun in the field for picking raspberries. There's a playground area and zoo for the children to play. There's also an area where they sell food. You can purchase fresh vegetables at the red barn.

Laura M — Google review

Just took my daughter for her first pumpkin patch and it was adorable 🧡 super cute for families or even a group of friends. There’s bbq, of course Apple Cider donuts and other food options. Hay rides, animals & Plenty of games for kids.

Vanessa A — Google review

I came to Butlers Orchard with my grandchildren to visit the bunnyland ranch for Easter. They had a great time. I always visit the country store to get local honey during allergy season.

Zen D — Google review

Very organized and beautiful grounds… you must make a reservation and I was able to make one the night before! You pre-buy the container of the amount of what you want to pick but you can always buy more or different items once there! My ticket for entry plus a quart each of blueberries, cherry tomatoes & blackberries was only $22!!! Not to mention the “tastings” as we picked!! The cherry tomatoes weren’t quite ready yet so you’re allowed to fill your quart with something else(I added some cilantro & beefsteak tomatoes!) All in all a fun several hours!! Can’t wait to go back for apple season!

Kim L — Google review

Nice farm in Germantown, great for a date or with your family. We went for strawberry season and there were signs guiding us to the fields. Tickets can be bought online for the entrance ($4) and a small container was $6. There was plenty to pick from, the field was large, and the place wasn't crowded on the Friday that we went. The roads were easy to drive on, and before you leave, there is a market that sold a lot of cute goods, produce and baked goods. We got the strawberry seasonal donuts from a recommendation from a friendly worker and they were really good. The strawberries were pretty good too, much better than the ones from the grocery store. The only small complaint is that it is a bit farther out than other places, meaning its a bit harder to find other things to do nearby.

Wendy G — Google review

BRING CASH.The best pumpkin patch ever?!?! Pony (and unicorn) rides, petting zoo (with the absolute friendliest animals), diggers, karts/tricycles, pumpkin shooter, bouncy trampolines, corn kernel pool, hay bales, dozens of playgrounds/climbing equipment/slides, super huge slides, live music, barbecue and apple cider doughnuts. I'm sure I'm missing something here. We spent over 4 hours here and still somehow didn't get to everything. They have ATMs, but lines are long and they don't always work, so bring cash if you can. We will definitely be back next year!

Julie — Google review

Great place for different types of activities throughout the seasons. I’ve visited during the summer for berry picking which was great. We also had the opportunity to pick flowers. In the fall, I’ve attended the fall festival during the weekends and enjoyed barbecue, kettle corn, walking through the corn maze, picking my own pumpkins and buying apple cider donuts. Great place for kids, for a date, and for a time with friends. I recommend buying the tickets for the fall festival online before the event.

Karla R — Google review

The perfect place for relieving stress with the family or partner. If you have children and want a fun activity while teaching them about life and farming then this is a great place to bring them. The fruits on the farm that are ready for selection are based on what’s available for eg strawberries are only available in June. The black berries are big, sweet and juicy depending on which ones you pick. I realize the blacker black berries with soft inner stems are sweet but may not have a long shelf life.We harvested some potatoes and the potato salad we made with it was excellent. Just go for the plants with the driest leaves and stems.

Sohail B — Google review

Really amazing experience with blueberry picking. This farm is huge and their farmers market has good selection of produce. A great experience to do with your kids or elderly parents.

Ketki M — Google review

We had a great time picking blueberries so came back a few days later for black raspberries. A great place for kids to play and participate in the picking. If your little on is usually in a stroller you may want to have a baby carrier or sling instead as the stroller as the stroller won't be much help while you are picking. The market is nice too, but not all the baked goods are made with the local fruit but still some nice gifts, tasty treats and cute atmosphere.

Elle P — Google review

I’d go back! From the time we got there signs were posted and things were clearly marked. These guys get an A in organization! Signs pointed to the direction of the fields we needed to go. Rows for picking were clearly marked. Parking close to the field so you didn’t have to walk far in the heat. You can get your containers at multiple spots. If you decided you want more than you ordered online- there was a staff member available to sell another container at marked points near the field. Even though it was hot They had an amazing variety of crops to pick seasonably. It was hot so we only did raspberries and blueberries. My 3 year old daughter couldn’t get enough of them. Everything was delicious. I’d go back to do blackberries and flowers. The flowers looked amazing. My children enjoyed the playhouses which offered ample shade and feeding the farm animals. It was not crowded at all on the Tuesday afternoon we went. The farm stand shop was well stocked and we were able to get some fresh local treats before we hit the road. Staff members were wonderful. The kids had a blast and I did as well. We will be back

Lucie R — Google review

The Sunflower Spectacular is a "must see" ! My pictures don't do it justice, but it really was beautiful. I also picked some tomatoes. This has been a hard year in my garden. But here I got to pick a nice bag of seconds. I'm looking forward to making tomato basil soup.If you go without children, then I suggest you buy tickets and go as early as possible to avoid lots of them.

Kathi B — Google review

Our family loves going to Butlers Orchard. We’ve been going for over a decade, and it’s been fun to see the new additions to the farm they’ve added for the kids. There is something for everyone. We’ve made attending the holiday events a family tradition. It’s also a great place to get local honey! Especially if you have allergies 🤧

Shopping

Lancaster County Dutch Market is a bustling marketplace offering a wide variety of fresh prepared foods, groceries, produce, fine chocolates, and home furnishings. The market also features fresh-made donuts and pizza. While Saturdays can get busy, the lines move smoothly. Visitors love the mouth-watering hot pretzels and appreciate having access to the Amish community through the market's offerings.

Raisin soft pretzel and jalapeño sausage bread are pretty solid! Both seasoned and regular party wings are great. I tried the Watergate salad for the first time; it’s more like a dessert. Overall, I highly recommend this market!

N C — Google review

I love this place and folks who work it! It’s always an adventure because I never know what I want before I arrive yet always bring home something good in food or home decor. There’s a nice variety of fresh prepared foods, groceries, produce, fine chocolates, fresh made donuts, pizza, and a section for home furnishings and decor. Saturdays are insanely busy so avoid if crowds bother you. Lunchtime gets busy too but manages to keep lines moving pretty smoothly. This location has a smaller representation of goods than the Laurel location if I recall correctly but it’s also less hectic.

Heather M — Google review

I go every chance I get. Fresh food from meats and vegetables. They also have a sit in restaurant and hot bar. But I go for the fresh home made pretzels. Worth every dollar. I recommend you give it a try. You will find something that will make you want to come back.

S — Google review

Love the chicken and the ribs. The pretzels are also very yummy. Depending on the day, be prepared to wait in line for a bit.

Christelle Y — Google review

Food is good, but service is spotty. But the food is good, so service can be overlooked. 😃

Liyang S — Google review

Everything I have had here is delicious!!! Cheesecakes, doughnuts, pretzels, and the BBQ!! The prices have increased but so have prices EVERYWHERE!!! I'd rather pay for the freshness and wholesomeness of the Dutch market any day!

S C — Google review

This place is absolutely amazing, so I apparently rated it five stars already lol. I had to come back today. Me and my boyfriend came from breakfast, now we come every week but we have never sat down to eat. I must say from the time we walked in customer service was amazing. We were greeted and served by lilly. The sweetest thing. She listened to our order as my boyfriend has allergies and served us well. The food was top notch and is highly recommended. We have found our new spot you can get breakfast, lunch and dinner. This place rocks. Thank you all for such an amazing morning

Ms E — Google review

I must admit that I have to give props to the Dutch Farmer Market for offering a wide variety of freshly made goods at reasonable prices. Plus, the quality of them are almost unbeatable no matter what you plan on buying. I can’t think of anywhere else in the Germantown area where you can get freshly made bacon, pickled beets, bread, and so much more!Come to think of it, other than a few confused kids, I don’t think that I recall seeing any grownups truly act unhappy at the market. Though fair warning, it can get crowded there during lunchtime especially. Still, the visit is quite worth it, no matter what your needs are. Also, shoutout to Mary Belle for making beautiful ikebana inspired flower arrangements! My mother really liked hers and ours lasted for almost two weeks courtesy of the fact that we used a bed of rocks and water to make it last. :D

Athena B — Google review

Here you can get fresh vegetables and meat. The restaurant's sandwiches are large and tasty. Most of all, we love pretzels.

Takahito K — Google review

Great quality groceries at a reasonable price, and hot fresh soft pretzels better than you can get anywhere in the area. I had the best pickles I’ve ever tasted there too. I need to go back to try the hot prepared foods; if the line was any indication the food must be amazing

5 outta 5 🌟 👍 👍EVERYTHING is delicious!Good lord, where do I start?!Best doughnuts, bread and pies in town 💯 Fresh baked. Daily. The fried chicken is so good, we call it "Crack chicken" lol.The chicken wings are SO 🔥 (they have breaded or non). They have an amazing butcher with fresh cuts of beef, pork, chicken, and varieties of seafood, etc. They even have a small cafe inside that is quaint and cozy to eat at.

John L — Google review

My favorite place. Try the diner for breakfast! Delicious and generous servings. Kind staff :)

Briana P — Google review

This Amish market is very popular and for a good reason. All the stands have great food. The pretzels are homemade fresh. The pretzel stand is very popular. The store is fully disability accessible and friendly.

Nate G — Google review

Great options for meals. Butcher shop is first class stuffed pork chops are amazing. BBQ chicken is better than KFC. Bakery has great breads and donuts.

Daniel F — Google review

Oh my goodness!!! Delicious breakfast! Amazing cooks there! Very nice staff too!! It’s worth the wait!

Judy D — Google review

I want to clarify the name "Dutch" as I understood the confusion reading the review about the Family Restaurant inside. So, Dutch comes from Lancaster County Amish name - they were German but local English colonists misheard "Deutsch" for "Dutch" and thought they were from Netherlands. Since then they were called Dutch. So, the cuisine in the restaurant is Amish, the old German recipes they brought with them to the New World and maybe adopted a little, the food is always very fresh, made from scratch, hearty and kid friendly, but for many Americans it is bland, not enough spices. I recommend to try it at least once and decide for yourself. I love this Market, the cheese spreads, the meat products, the salads and my kids love ice-cream, pies, donuts and hot chocolate. And that hot chocolate is a real chocolate not hot cocoa!!! Friendly stuff and fresh food, the only con is the work schedule, I wish they would come here every day! ☺️ Yes, they actually are from Lancaster County, PA and drive here for the market on those 3 days!

Marianna Z — Google review

This review is for Beiler's Doughnuts. They are SO yummy, fresh, and high quality-the kind of doughnuts that are dense and loaded with frosting and toppings. The place is always well stocked with a great selection of flavors. The fritters are a family favorite. Last time we got a half dozen (pictured- 3 blueberry fritters, a sour cream glazed, maple bacon, and chocolate glazed).

Jodie D — Google review

Everything is always fresh and tasty. The homemade salads place has great pickles too. Many people love the fried chicken spot and the pretzel spot. I've visited almost every place (except maybe three) and I've been satisfied with the customer service and products each time!

Tiffany O — Google review

Cinnamon sugar pretzel is to die for. The line is always super long but they move it along quickly. Fudge, potato wedges, and fried chicken are all delicious!

Emily M — Google review

The market is amazing! There's a very different type of variety to find inside. Baked goods, meats, flowers, furniture and even a little Cafe. I personally was disappointed in the Cafe. They call it Dutch in the name, but it's just regular Cafe type food. It was, hower, good food. We never got refills on our drinks, and the waitress didn't return to our table. They decided to give all waitresses their breaks except 1. So she had to run the counter, the window, and tables. 🙄 Also,it's worth noting that if you're not a local person, this restaurant is literally inside the market, but GPS doesn't tell you that. So we drove around the entire shopping plaza looking until I called them directly. 😐

Park

Nature & Parks

Great Falls Park is a park located in Washington, D.C., just 15 miles from the nation's capital. The park has trails and picnic areas, as well as stunning falls and rushing white water. The park offers educational activities and ranger-led programs, making it a great place to enjoy nature.

Such a nice area to have a walk. Some parts close to shore need definitely good and tight shoes. You need to buy a day pass ($ 20,-) or an annual ($ 35,-) for parking. Not a secret tip - so better avoid the most popular times. Closed after sunset. Unfortunately the great visitor center never got back to it’s pre Covid offers. At least you can use the restrooms there.

Jan-Sören W — Google review

Amazing place! Just be prepared to wait in 30 minutes of traffic to enter on nice days. Dog friendly, kid friendly, bathrooms, tons of space to picnic/grill, and lots of parking (that being said, finding a preferred spot is difficult on busy day). Must do if you live in the area or plan to visit. I recommend the Virginia side over the Maryland side.

Tim B — Google review

Amazing place you can ask for near the busiest working hub. Great to spend quality family time. It’s peaceful with good rapids, waterfalls and has great trail for hiking and walking. And visiting in fall makes it even more beautiful with scenery. Must visit if you like nature, adventure and walk on top of it it has great visitor centre. I recommend getting annual pass if you are frequently visiting here.

Guna B — Google review

absolutely gorgeous hike along some beautiful falls! It took us about 2 hours to slowly hike through the river trail & took multiple breaks on the way to enjoy the scenery. We also went right after it rained so the falls were even more gorgeous!! 10/10 recommend.heads up that the visitor center is under construction but there was a small concession stand and there are still bathrooms open!

Mechelle C — Google review

So we went here and walked the trails. Looked at the falls during the fall. It is an absolutely beautiful Park in the summer, winter or fall... I guess I could have just said year round. Very friendly staff.Keep in mind that it does get busy right around opening times so make sure you beat the rush to the gate. Also the main information center and place to buy stuff is still under construction (as of October 2024) so you need to bring anything you might need with you water, snacks, etc.Everybody should keep in mind that a national park pass is like 80 bucks. So if you're in this area, if you hit here and any of the other national parks just a few times in a year it pays for itself pretty quickly.

Ron — Google review

Visited on a Tuesday. The fee is 20.00 to enter the park or free with the National Park Pass. It’s about a ten minute walk from the parking lot to the viewing area for the falls. There are three different viewing areas the third and the farthest from the parking lot offers the best view. Unfortunately the park store was closed when I visited so buying a souvenir picking up a postcard , or buying anything souvenir was not available. There was a Ranger at the third viewing area with some information about the park and some brochures. I also visited the other side of the river on the C & O towpath canal. On this side, you could view some of the old locks and the tavern that used to serve as a hotel for travelers back in the day. There is also a $20 charge to enter the park on this side of the river.

Sandra E — Google review

Excellent park. The overviews are accessible. After that, the trail gets quite technical.Dogs permitted on leash. My dog received the Great Falls BARK Badge! US National Parks across the country participate in the BARK Ranger program, which issues park-specific badges to dogs who visit. To find the issuing Ranger, head down the stairs next to the Visitor Center towards the restrooms. There's a glass door for authorized personnel next to the women's restroom. Just knock for a Ranger.

Joanna D — Google review

- As of November 8th, the visitor center is still under renovation and closed.- The restrooms located in the basement are open for use.- The parking lot is spacious and can accommodate approximately 30-40 cars, including buses.- There are 15-20 picnic tables available, including both individual tables and longer ones for groups.- On a Friday around 11:00 AM, there were 2-3 school groups (each with about 20 students) visiting the area.- There are 3 main viewpoints for the waterfall in this zone. Overlook 3 offers the clearest and widest view and is wheelchair accessible.- There are multiple trails starting from this point, branching out in different directions.- Along the trails near the waterfall, there are several viewpoints where you can sit and relax on the rocks overlooking the waterfall.- The trails are mostly flat at the beginning, but after Overlook 3, the terrain becomes more rocky, requiring some climbing over boulders. (Many children and elderly people were able to navigate this section.)

Pol — Google review

Great Falls Park is awesome! Great views of the Potomac River that is wheelchair and stroller friendly, although it is gravel/dirt and was somewhat muddy when we visited with a stroller, so plan accordingly. There are many great hiking paths to explore. Very cool place, a must visit if you are in the area. $20 per car entrance fee when we visited, which is well worth it.

Stephen N — Google review

Great Falls Park is awesome! The views are amazing with the waterfalls and cliffs—perfect for photos. The hiking trails are great, whether you're up for an easy walk or a tough hike. Lots of spots for picnics, and the facilities are clean. Perfect for a chill day out in nature. Definitely check it out!

Dennis E — Google review

Fantastic experience on both the VA and the MD side. Beautiful trails, much more difficult for some of the trails on the MD side (Billy Goat) but absolutely worth checking out if you're near the area.Incredible option for some real nature right in NOVA!Families are welcome, visitor centers have food and drinks for reasonable prices, I believe pets are also welcome. Trails are fairly well marked and easy to navigate. They provide a map when you enter so make sure to get that. There are many picnic areas to enjoy any time of the day, plenty of space for activities all around.

K — Google review

We saw some beautiful pictures of the Great Falls Park and we knew we had to visit it! There is an entrance fee per car or you need the annual national park permit. There are a couple of large parking lots and we easily found a spot. We visited all three overlook points (the first one offers the best views and requires some climbing) and the views are gorgeous. Even though we visited over the weekend, the park wasn't too crowded. We could eat our picnic on the several benches they had in the park. Restrooms were available at the entrance. Several benches are also there all around the park. The park is pet friendly.

Neha V — Google review

Great Falls Park, located along the Potomac River in Virginia, offers breathtaking natural scenery and a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors are captivated by the dramatic waterfalls and rugged cliffs, making it a popular spot for hiking, rock climbing, and picnicking. The park features well-maintained trails suitable for all skill levels, with the overlooks providing spectacular views of the falls. Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy the diverse flora and fauna. While the park can get crowded on weekends and parking may be limited, the stunning landscapes and recreational opportunities make Great Falls Park a must-visit destination for nature lovers.

Md. R — Google review

If you want a quiet and fresh air, close to Sterling but far from the chaos of the city, and a waterfall environment, this is the right place. You can watch the beautiful views from different angles from 3 different lookout points and calm down and relax.

Atilla A — Google review

It is a very relaxing place. .Beautiful, scenic ,good walking trail.Lots of benches to sit near the visitors centre. It was closed when we went for renovation.Though the restrooms and a take away café was open.Drinking water available.Rangers available for a trail walk.

Things to know... Make sure this is on your list to do when you're in the area. This was my favorite thing to do while in the area.Clean park - accessible for all - and the views. Pictures just don't do it justice. The visitor center closed for renovations, but there are bathrooms available, and a snack bar was open. There are lots of picnic tables to eat at and plenty of parking.Do not miss this.

Brian L — Google review

Breathtakingly beautiful! This place never disappoints. Great walking trials, picturesque views and plenty of history. A bit crowded during the weekend, but a place not to miss. Great for younger kids!

Sebastian M — Google review

We have been coming here for years and always have a good experience. It is kept clean, the overlooks all have stunning views, and the trails are fun to walk. There is plenty of space to picnic and for kids to run around safely. If bringing smaller kids I'd recommend keeping them close or in a carrier. The rocks are slick, even when dry and there are many roots too.

Jessica Z — Google review

This is a gorgeous park, there is a fee for admission and make sure to get there early!! It fills up fast! This park is equipped with benches so you can eat with your family, gorgeous hikes with incredible views. The hikes range from easy a stroll in the park to climbing over rocks and more difficult paths.

Brittani B — Google review

This park has beautiful views of the Potomac and nice trails along the river and through the woods, with some rock scrambles and elevation gain. I was able to get in free with an America the Beautiful National Park Pass. There's a restroom and a snack bar at the Visitor Center near the main parking lot. They have a booklet and badge available for the NPS Junior Ranger program for kids.

Jennifer C — Google review

Loved visiting this place. The falls were beautiful and a very nice place to walk around at. They have a few restrooms here on the property to go to so no worries if you had to go.

We went to the VA side last weekend! Wasn’t the perfect weather but still had a lot of fun and the water falls just amazing to watch and so many historical spots and stories to learn about! Great park around and dog friendly

Tommy T — Google review

First time hiking Great Falls Park and I was impressed by the beautiful views right off from the parking lot. We hiked just after a rain so the river has lots of water. We saw a few people on their rafts too. We saw lots of turtles in the lagoon, squirrels, robins and condors. We climbed the rocks near the river as well and sat there to just take in the view. On our way back to the parking lot, we saw mountain bikers as well and a few people setting up their tents to camp for the night. I would love to hike the longer trails next time when I'm back.

Belle — Google review

It is a beautiful national park. We visited to McLean side of the falls and loved it. The hiking to Riverside trail was so much fun. However, they have closed the trail due to some reason but it’s still worth visiting.

This place is Breathtaking, the rivers of the Water bring such a sense of Calmness and Peace. Walking throughout park grounds allows you to connect with a true Divine experience to become one with Nature. However you can get the full experience of much more. The staff here are very Polite and knowledgeable about with any questions you may have, also there’s a map offered to you if you’re in need of help with directions. This place is full of Life, for Family, Friends, Pet Friendly, Tourists or if you just want to be alone. Just go out and experience the sights and feel the beauty of it all.

The first time am visiting this great falls for the first time . This stunning natural wonder is home to a series of breathtaking waterfalls that cascade over rocks and create a mesmerizing display of nature's power. Visitors can hike along the park's trails, enjoy a picnic by the water, or simply sit back and marvel at the beauty of the falls. The park is also a popular spot for birdwatching, with a variety of species calling the area home.Note : entry tickets will be charged for vehicle $20 ( one ticket will be valid unlimited time for the next 6days )$10 per person coming without vehicle . Really work to have a calm and relaxing time.

Nature & Parks

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is a renowned venue in the greater D.C. region exclusively dedicated to showcasing performing arts. The park features a 7,000-seat theater and hosts an array of performances throughout the year. Visitors can also enjoy leisurely walks along scenic trails that lead to smaller outdoor stages within the park. Membership tiers offer varying perks, and the clean and well-maintained park offers numerous activities for all ages.

20240907 Impressive National Park with a variety of activities, events, shows. It also has plenty of bathrooms scattered throughout the park. I discovered this morning that they have hiking trails. I have only come here for shows a few decades ago. I brought my girls here today, and we hiked 1.5 miles that covered the pond and the performance center. The grounds are very clean. The trail to the outdoor children theatre is tiny gravel trail. The other trails are either small gravel or big rocks coming out of the ground. Highly recommend wearing hiking shoes. The visitors that I ran into were very friendly. Some trails were closed for restoration. There is a small Wildlife Sanctuary behind the performance center that is worth checking out, but it is not dogfriendly.

Wolf trap is a great venue that has a nice intimate feel with a good size lawn and plenty of seating if desired. They best thing is that the venue offers a wide array of performers so chances are you will find something you like.We recently came to watch Black Violin which was amazing and I highly recommend. The venue staff is very helpful and super friendly. One of the best parts here is that parking is free and you can get in and out multiple ways so no huge delays which is really great. We sat in the pavilion section in one of the “box seats” which provided great views and easy access. Definitely will be looking for more chances to visit again soon.

Very enjoyable experience. I attended a performance by Clint Black. He puts on a good show. Great interaction with his audience. Great venue, excellent acoustics. They added a new 3 story section with elevators for the handicapped. New restrooms and an expanded and improved concession stand. My only advice is to arrive an hour before the event if you want a good parking spot.

What an amazing festival venue! There are three permanent stages that we found, trees and grass, plentiful shade, facilities where you need them. This place has it all. Even the parking, which is usually the weak link, isn't a nightmare. So the bathrooms and other structures are either well maintained or, in some cases, brand new construction. The trails are easy to follow and we'll maintained. The viewing fields are graded to make viewing easy and the children's theater has amphitheater style seating. This is a great concert venue. If you have the opportunity, it is worth the trip out.

Benjamin K — Google review

I tend to stay away from concerts because they can be so chaotic but my experience at Wolf Trap was so refreshing. The cleanliness and level of organization was truly amazing. The ushers were so polite and helpful. One of them even walked us right to our seats. I’d also definitely encourage doing the encore circle lounge. That was truly the cherry on top of an already wonderful evening.

Tash M — Google review

One of the best amphitheaters around! You can't beat bringing your own food and drinks and sitting on the lawn. Tickets are always reasonably priced, and the staff is nice and friendly. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but it's not the worst.

Eric B — Google review

I was a little skeptical coming to Wolf trap for my first time, but I was totally blown away. The venue itself is incredibly pretty and I love how you have the option between covered seats and the lawn. Who would have thought this was tucked away?I do find it a little annoying how if you have the covered seats you can't bring drinks down unless they are in the special cup they sell at concessions, seems a bit cheap to me but I guess it's to combat spills and whatnot. It is one of the cleanest venues I've ever been to so it's working. Please come and support Wolf Trap!

Austin C — Google review

Amazing venue, it's large enough to host BBD and Boys II Men show. The food was pricey, as expected, but if you buy tickets to sit on the lawn you can eat and watch the show there. Food is not allowed in the seating area so you'll eat it before taking your seat. By the way, GREAT SHOW!

JUSTRYDIN — Google review

Nice relaxing venue for concerts! Free parking, reasonable ticket prices, crowds appear to be more civilized no weed smoke and drama, sound is good from grassy area and TVs to view the stage every where. Only suggestion is bring your own food and drinks it’s very pricey at the kiosk.

Justin D — Google review

Pretty much the best concert venue around. We just love going there!!! Beck with the National Symphony Orchestra was fantastic!!! Also saw Cake the following weekend no pics though.

Herman C — Google review

Wonderful indoor/outdoor arena with great amenities and wonderful service. Most people have a picnic on the lawn before the show then either stay there for the show or enter the beautiful seating area. There is food and drink available but you are allowed to bring your own. We saw Beck with the National Symphony Orchestra and it was great.

Brian Z — Google review

Not the greatest pics. Forgive me! My wife and I went to see John Legend. It was epic!! Wolf Trap National Park is amazing. We all know John Legend is amazing!! But we will definitely be back to Wolf Trap! It was so big and there was so much to do!! The grounds are well taken care of and honestly we were super impressed by all the amenities. Not sure if those amenities are still open and running if there aren't any events. But I would love to go back!

Michael A — Google review

Great venue to enjoy all different types of music and dramatic performances! Ability to bring in your own food and drinks (including alcoholic) is very nice (can also buy there). Recently visited for Daryl Hall and Elvis Costello.

Bill W — Google review

It was great! The seating was close and good performance, the parking lot is slightly far and a little crowded and confusing to get out specially in the rain and dark.

Tommy T — Google review

Reasonably priced tickets, free parking, plenty of staff to assist, makes this place a great concert venue. It's open on the slides, so no air conditioning or fans. Though the concert starts at 8, summer May feel hot and humid

R M — Google review

What an amazing venue to do a show! The architecture and all the woodwork is absolutely stunning. And it's in a beautiful park with hiking trails. The crew is wonderful to work with.#misadventuresofmissadventure

Susan R — Google review

The most welcoming outdoor concert experience I’ve ever had!! Every time I attend a concert here it is delightfully memorable and assures me that adults can have a good safe time even with alcohol in the mix. It’s impressive how well the lawn area is kept considering the summer season with its insects and allergies. If you prepare yourself well, there is nothing but a good time to be had!

Robyn J — Google review

Nice venue! Great acoustics. Get here early for parking. Would be 5 star but they made us buy a $6 cup to bring drinks into the seats. On and $18 that hurts!

Marquelle A — Google review

A wonderful experience from start to end. The audio was perfect, the parking attendants were very nice and everything was organized. Prepare for a bit of a wait once a show is over, so that you can leave the parking lot. The large amount of people can cause complications but they do a good job to keep it flowing.Id totally recommend spending extra to get box seats! The green seemed to be a bit packed.

Vaht — Google review

Attended for a live episode of one of my favorite shows. Beautiful venue, and easy to see the screens after moving around.I would suggest arriving early should you be seating on the lawn. Good visibility locations fill in quickly, and there are spaces in the lawn section which offer little to no visibility of the stage. There were food options available on site, as well as beverage vendors.Parking was a bit of a trick, too. We parked outside of the lot on the roads surrounding the venue.

Leesylvania State Park, located along the Potomac River in Woodbridge, is a picturesque 556-acre green space popular for picnicking, boating, and hiking. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as fishing, cycling, and even crossing the Virginia maritime boundary into Maryland at the end of the fishing pier. The park features multiple trail systems for hiking and biking, a beach area by the pier, dog-friendly facilities, playgrounds, bathroom amenities, a bait shop and restaurant.

One of my recent favourites, it's just perfect! Trails, boat storage and loading ramps. Has good fishing spots and it's very clean.Love the fact that has may grills available and a huge recreation area.

We visited in early October 2024. It was a Friday and early in the morning. When you first drive in there is the booth to pay, which was staffed by a ranger. Make sure you have your State Park Annual Pass if you have one.The Park Office is immediately to the right where they do have a couple items gift shop like items for sale, but the main store is down at the visitor center past the water recreation area. It’s a little bit of a drive down. When we visited, we were told the wifi had been out at the visitor center for about a week and they were not able to sell any items down there. Luckily, they had a few items at the park office near the entrance. There were a couple items that were not available at the park office, but they were able to ring us up and gave us the receipt and called down to the visitor center and they gave us the other items from down there. We drove pretty far and wanted to make sure we got our collectable patch, pin and hiking medallion from this VA State Park. The visitor center was amazing. They had 3 rangers stationed there when we arrived. There were ample parking spaces, and we were only 1 of 3 cars there. When you walk in, there are bathrooms straight in front of you, to the right is the nature center which had a ton of things to look at. Probably more than any other VA State Park we’ve been to yet. Lots of taxidermy animals up top and even microscopes with slides and just many things for kids of all ages to look at and touch. If you go to the left, immediately is the park store and then you walk into a great room filled with all the historical information about the park over the years starting from the Native Americans all the way to the 20th century as you move around the room.We unfortunately did not bring our kayaks this trip but had all 3 of our kids in tow. We decided to do at least one trail and selected Bushy Point over Lee’s Woods because we wanted to see the waterfront. You get an amazing view as you drive in and turn left at the point, we said we HAD to hike that. The trail was great starting from the waterfront recreation area. You do walk by the group campground and then along the road and under the bridge. Amazing as we were there early in the morning and the sun was still coming low in the sky over the water. The problem was when we pass that and the trail lead into the woods, it just kind of disappeared. We spent a good 10 mins looking if we could find the trail but were unable to locate the rest of it and gave up and went back to the car.I think in the future we would definitely do the Lee’s Woods trail (which we were told is more historic type trail) and also bring kayaks and probably make sure we had time to do some fishing. We know that many folks will also launch kayaks here and travel to Widewater State Park and Caledon State Park which have places to stop and camp. This was our plan to scope out what the different sites looked like for when we attempt this in the future. We are also working on our VA State Park Trail Quest, and this is our 17th VA State Park.

Visited for the the first time yesterday and instantly saw the appeal. This park has so much to offer from hiking, biking, fishing, boating, camping, and more! There is a beach by the pier, it's dog friendly and there are playgrounds. With multiple trail systems it's easy to not see others if that's what you are looking for. Bathroom facilities as well as a bait shop and restaurant. They charge $10/ vehicle per day or you can get an annual pass for $85/year. You need to obtain that during the weekdays during business hours at the main office when you pull in. Highly recommend for families, couples or just solo time. A great place to have a picnic too or read under the shade of a tree!

My kids LOVE this park! It's got a beautiful drive in, a picnic area near the water, a small playground, and lots of trails... but my kid's favorite part is the "beach" where they can play in the sand and find snail shells. It's a must visit and revisit kind of place. :)

Simplyamandap — Google review

This is a very nice park with so many beautiful places for picnic and grilling! The staff is so friendly and helpful!

Abdullah B — Google review

Enjoyed my time at the park hiking the trails. Didn't think to bring any fishing gear but there was plenty of places to fish if you did. Playground was a little small and the swimming beach area was super busy on the Sunday I went.

Matt T — Google review

Excellent park for easy hikes, swimming, fishing, picnic and more, enter is only $10 por car , they do have bathrooms.Plenty of parking and security. We definitely will be visiting more often.

Sahar O — Google review

Enjoyed the place for a bit in the afternoon before it got crowded again. Nice place to bring your dog also. Water was very refreshing and not too cold Mid Aug. Kids also had fun and played with the sand. Had to put 4 stars because unfortunately people left lots of trash behind and when it got crowded some didn’t respect your little space. Didn’t observe much security going around. Lots of boats and that looked really fun!

Angela O — Google review

The view point is great. I consider the hiking trail a little difficult but it was a good exercise.

Hushem M — Google review

The park is beautiful and I would like to add more stars but unfortunately every time I go they say it’s closed because it’s reaching the capacity but is not like today I was there and I left early and I noticed the like us others were leaving and opening up parking spaces. But the website still says it’s closed. There were lot of cars waiting at the entrance and the state police there was saying the same thing, Park is Closed. I just wonder what if the police just let one car IN when one car comes OUT. At least save people’s time and let them enjoy their day in this beautiful park.

Fatma A — Google review

Spacious natural park with water access. Public restrooms. $10 per vehicle entrance (parking) fee.

Steve C — Google review

We have attended this park several times. The park is gated for entry and there hS been a time we went and the park rangers said the park was at full capacity and was not allowing entry. There is a beautiful view of the dock on the water. We launched our kayaks from Cartop Boat Launch and it wasn’t the best experience as it may have been low tide and plants were sticking up out of the water. Another summer day experience, we attended a cookout and paddle boarded from the beach area. The park was super packed with families and there is plenty of parking.

Christine’s E — Google review

Popular place to come watch the sunset. Just keep in mind that the area closes at sunset (specific closing times are usually accurate on the website) and the gate closes half an hour before the area does, so for your sunset pics you need to arrive decently ahead of time. For example: today the park is closing at 730. To catch the sunset you need to be arriving before 7, and ideally earlier so that you can get more out of your $10 parking pass.

Zach P — Google review

Great place to stay healthy and enjoy a great day. Great views and close to water. But there was a repair on wooden bridge, and there was a bunch of 2x4s with nails and crews right next to the trail, and lately, it's been at full capacity more than a few times. If this happens to you, visit Mason neck state park it won't disappoint.

703 C — Google review

Nice trails by the water. Amtrak rolled by when we were there. Several times actually. Trains are in pretty good shape. Nice walk by the water. Birds were not there in large numbers. Parking is free entry is not. Or maybe it’s pay for parking and get in free either way you will pay unless you have a pass.

Paul Z — Google review

Took my dogs and we had a blast! Trails, beach, food, people. My boys slept for two days after our adventure!

Atlantic V — Google review

Great park for small hikes. Went on a rainy winter day, it was slippery yet beautiful. Trails are well marked. Plenty of parking.

Tshepho T — Google review

This was a nice park a short ways out of the city; the day we went was scorchingly hot; it was clear the park is used by many many people . It was sad to see so much trash but it’s part of a “heavy use” area; looking out on the water was simply beautiful; I wouldn’t get in the water or eat the fish here and was surprised at the number of people in the water. I was glad to see signs posted about the dangers of eating your catch in the waters. Wish we had more time, but it was a nice visit, very nice education center for children or for people interested in learning more about the area - we would go back again but likely in the early early morning or evening

Emily Y — Google review

Beautiful park with lots of trees and shade. BBQs abound and picnic tables of all sizes, first come first served basis. Many people on the Saturday I visited in June 2023. Many children in the water.

Maria I — Google review

The reason for the 3 stars is that they only allow a certain number of people and then close the park for the day once at capacity, but they should allow people in after other people leave the park, but they do not. Also, the port a potty was disgusting. There was one worker who was very nice, and I asked if he could clean up the glass that someone had broken, and he went and got a broom and did it. We gave him food because he was so nice.

Tracy S — Google review

10 bucks to get in is totally worth it. Dozens of trails, great place to walk and picnic. The kids have a playground and lots of people swimming in the water. If you have jet skis or boats, this place is good for you too. All around, a good experience.

Shopping

Potomac Mills, previously known as the Washington Outlet Mall, is a sprawling shopping destination located just off -95 in Virginia. With over 200 stores, including famous factory outlets and well-known brands like Nike, Calvin Klein, and H&M, it's a shopaholic's paradise. The mall also boasts around 30 restaurants to satisfy any craving. Visitors can easily spend an entire day exploring the diverse retail offerings that range from clothing and shoes to luxury items from renowned designer labels.

Lots of shops with friendly prices where there is a special offer. Dear sellers, clean tidy shops. Their food offer also has a wide selection, everyone can find the right one for them.

This mall is too cheap to run air conditioning to a normal level. The mall is always hot and sticky and miserable. The stores are fine but again it's hot everyone's complaining the staff the people the patrons it's not fun to be in the mall I the humid warm air. Parts of the mall are kind of desolate and empty which is weird and other parts have great stories. If you're looking for a real Outlets these aren't them everything's very highly priced. It's like fake Outlets to just get people to come. There are a lot of fun things for kids to do in the middle of the walkways and the kids area although parents need to restrict kids that are 10 and older because they let the big kids run in and act crazy and there's a lot of international Melting Pot kind of crowd so they have different standards on what's okay I suppose. But no one's there to monitor the kids area so it's a free-for-all for children that are running and way too big versus the little toddlers who are just trying to Explore and have fun. If you go bring your personal cooling fan. There's a lot of variety of stores and a good food court. But be prepared to spend some money. Also the round one arcade is a lot of fun but very expensive and their bars never open be careful they might accuse you of already drinking if you are waiting for the bar to open they're very strange there about their service

This is a huge mall. I try to visit here Everytime I come up to the DC area. Fun to walk with the family and there’s a store for everyone, that’s for sure. My only complaint is the gross restrooms, but I know that’s just due to the high traffic of people that come & go through here. Place is awesome nonetheless and it’s always fun to get to come here. I’ll definitely be back.

Potomac Mills Outlet Mall is a shopper’s paradise! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the ample and convenient parking, which made my visit hassle-free. The variety of stores is fantastic, catering to every need and style. I scored some incredible deals at the Nike outlet, snagging dope sneakers at unbeatable prices. The food court is another highlight, offering a great selection of delicious options to refuel during your shopping spree. The overall atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it a perfect destination for a day out. Potomac Mills truly has it all—great parking, amazing prices, and a top-notch food court. Highly recommended for any shopping enthusiast!

Riesen Einkaufscenter. Ein Markengeschäft folgt auf dem anderen. Teilweise viel günstigere Preise als in Deutschland. Riesenparkplatzareal. Wenn man nicht aufpasst wo man geparkt hat, beginnt die große Suche.....ganze Center ist nicht überlaufen. Gibt auch einen Bereich wo man Essen und Trinken kann. Alles hält typisch amerikanisch.(Translated by Google)Huge shopping center. One brand store follows another. Sometimes much cheaper prices than in Germany. Huge parking area. If you don't pay attention to where you parked, the big search begins...the whole center is not overcrowded. There is also an area where you can eat and drink. Everything is typically American.

Potomac Mills never disappoints. Even when you come with no specific items to look for, it’s certain you will find many deals you can’t pass up.We found great sales at Coach & Kate Spade, although to be home, their stores are a little intimidating. You must be a scientist to determine which bags are on clearance & for what discount.Vera Bradley is incredibly reliable for great clearance items that are simple to decipher the final price. The Converse store was a little disappointing with a bare minimum of a selection; however, I’m sure that’s just how outlets go.I recently broke my back and was so happy to find a significant number of benches scattered throughout. Our last trip we ate in the food court. There are so many selections, you’ll do better than me to even make a decision. Everything smells and looks fantastic. We ended up getting supper from a pizza/Italian restaurant on the left side of the court. I apologize for not remembering the name. It was scrumptious. They do have large kiosks with mall maps on them and I looked online for a general idea of where everything was.My little grandson loved riding the automated although when we first came through, the large play area was jam packed. By the time we shopped and returned, the crowd had thinned.Since Potomac Mills is almost 3 hours from home, we usually spend the night and head home the next morning. There are some nice hotels extremely close, which makes shopping here even better. The parking lots are expansive and while you may have a bit of a walk, you’ll more than likely always find a space. In the attached photo, this was after 6 hours of shopping; my grandson is in his stroller, under there somewhere. LOL At 2 years old, even the baby loved Potomac Mills.

How is this place still open?!?! I told friends I was doing there, they (two different ones) said “don’t get robbed!”The place is filled with “interesting” shoppers and most of the actual national chains and brand names stores have pulled out. When walking in the main entrance, most stores to the right are local, definitely now what shoppers come to an outlet mall from far away to visit! Then to the left, going up to their “fashion district” many names have pulled out, like Tommy Bahama, which is no longer there. It's very sad, as I recall coming here in 1984 when the mall opened and I even worked here through high school and to see what’s come of the area, the demographic, and this mall is simply sad!

F'burg F — Google review

Worst shaped mall I've ever experienced. Also, why do you close at 6 pm on a Sunday? I get no one wants to work, period, but that falls especially true on Sundays. Maybe if the mall just closed one day when there is less people going there, like on a Monday or Tuesday, and kept it open later on Sunday, you would have happier employees since a guaranteed designated day off in retail is scarce. Also I am willing to bet a lot of the stores would sell the same amount in 3 hours on a Sunday to what they sell on those on a whole Monday or Tuesday.

L F — Google review

This mall is huge and super clean and nice. There are so many stores to see. I highly recommend coming to this mall if you ever need to pass the time, or spend a rainy day doing something. They have something for everyone here and the food is very good. Some of the bathrooms are nice and some aren’t the cleanest, so just be aware of that. Overall a great place to spend some time.

Horrible service. The host seated my party after struggling to find an open in a almost empty restaurant empty restaurant. Once seated, no one come over to greet us. After patently waiting and watching staff walking past our table to for over 10 minutes. The most disturbing then happened next, a parry can in after us, they were immediately seated waited on and shortly served drinks. After waiting another 10 minutes, now a total of 20 minutes, I left my table to speak with host who was only couple feet from our table requesting to see a manager. She was one of the hosts who greated us upon our arrival. It was strange she didn't notice no one was waiting on us.After speaking with manager,we decided to leave and take our services elsewhere. As we walked out the door, the party after us was being served their food. This restaurant experience was a waste of our time. Customer ser

This mall was breathtaking! Came down here from southern VA and knew it would be an amazing and gigantic mall. Mainly came down here to exchange some currency at the wonderful exchange booth and take a walk around. The mall really was gigantic and took me a whole 20 minutes to walk through just half of it! So many terrific stores and so many great attractions. Wish I could check out every single one but had no time lol. Definitely will be back when I pass by Northern Virginia!!

My wife loves this place. Calamari is delish. Adult drinks are average. Food is fresh and hot. Price is expected.

It’s a great mall for Virginia. Most of the stores are outlets so you can get big discount and they stack on other discounts/coupons if they apply to you. Do yourself a favor if you have never been here park at one end and walk the entire thing. There are no loops it’s out and back. It’s fairly well cleaned. The food court gets full and they don’t always have time to wipe down the tables when it’s busy. The bathroom get messy but the staff cleans them regularly.

Absolutely huge. Nearly any store you can imagine. Lots of outlet clearance stores like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls/Home Goods. We stopped just to get out of traffic for a little and spent hours there. Also spent more money than anticipated, but we found lots of good deals.

I was here yesterday - 5 Below- for back to school shopping with my kids. The manager - a lady by the name of Lesley yelled at my children and I as soon as we walked in “!! NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED !!”We have flasks with cold water in them everywhere we go. It’s 90 degrees outside. We were planning to shop. We were not planning to have a picnic in there. Now, I’m not arguing the store policy. I just don’t appreciate the tone that was used. The store itself is a mess and it was too much trouble to go digging around so we left. The manager was yelling at people the entire time we were there. In short the store is disorganized and the manager screams at you by way of welcome.Enjoy your shopping experience!

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is a modern facility located near Marine Corps Base Quantico, showcasing the rich history of the military branch. With an impressive glass atrium and over 118,000 square feet of space, visitors can explore exhibits that honor those who have served and sacrificed for their country. The museum also hosts retirement ceremonies for Marines who have dedicated over 24 years to their service.

One of the best museums I have visited so far, which was a pleasant surprise. The layout makes sense and will take you through the eras the Marine Corps has served our nation. Each exhibit is chock full of valuable information and amazing artifacts. Children will especially love the tanks, planes, helicopters, and other military vehicles they have on display here. There’s even two more sections that will be opening within the next year, so definitely stop by if you’re in the area or enjoy military memorabilia.

I have visited the museum twice now and both times I’ve been very impressed with how they’ve orchestrated 250 years worth of history. Our latest visit was to attend the 20 year reunion of Marines who fought the second battle of Fallujah. We finally got to see the long awaited newest section that recently opened - Iraq and Afghanistan. Everything throughout the museum is very lifelike. It is all a beautiful tribute to our Marine Corps warriors.

Very informative museum with great exhibits. You could spend an hour there briefly understanding the history or you could spend many hours there reading and seeing everything. Some exhibits are more immersive with auditory and visual aids to help you understand the environment or the situation. Highly recommend.

Incredible place to visit. A must see if you are in Virginia and our family plans to visit next year because they are adding more exhibits pertaining to the most recent wars. I was impressed with great exhibits and they are meticulous when it comes to detail. I was amazed and moved the way they told the stories about the Marines. It is very true that they are the few and the proud. No entrance fee. Don't forget to follow the walking trails outside the museum. They have beautiful chapel and area for wedding ceremony. Inside they have beautiful and spacious areas for events.

The museum was a pleasant surprise. It is a lot bigger than it appears, and the exhibits are very informative. The gift shop has excellent choices of memorabilia to remember your visit. There's only one suggestion allow ample time to enjoy your experience.

My day in Virginia at The National Museum of the Marine Corps was simply fantastic. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the museum's striking architecture, which beautifully reflects the strength and spirit of the Marine Corps. Inside, I explored a rich tapestry of exhibits that honor the legacy of the Marines, showcasing their bravery, sacrifice, and dedication through immersive displays and personal stories. Each gallery was thoughtfully curated, blending history with artistry, making it more than just a museum—it felt like a tribute to the courage of those who served. The experience was both educational and moving, leaving me with a profound appreciation for the Marines and their contributions to our nation.

Beautiful. Bring your tissues. I love the layout of the museum. Very informative everyone there was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The We Are Marines movie was so incredibly well done. My kids especially liked the interactive part of the museum.

The visit here lasted a lot longer than I expected. From the outside, it looks small but from the inside the amount of history that is in there is unimaginable. We spent nearly 4 hours in there and saw the growth of Marine Corps year after year and battles after battles. This place is by far one of the best Museum I have ever visited.

Chirag K — Google review

We saw the building from the interstate and dropped in when they first opened the next morning, this museum is incredible, be sure to give yourself ample time to spend there. There a wealth of information to learn about our Marine Corps history and the artillery/gear used. We wished we had more time to spend. The museum is FREE.

Sarah R — Google review

I love this museum, it is awesome! The history is amazing! Including all of the modeling, but not just the history inside. It's also the building architecture, very unique! I would definitely come back.

Tommy W — Google review

Amazing museum with lots of exhibits on the history of the US Marines. There is a lot to check out. You can watch a movie about the Marines and how they serve us. There is also a lot of tanks and airplanes. I like how each exhibit is organized into sections about a certain war. It is very clean and the I especially like the architecture of the museum. It’s very nice how the admission is free and there is so much to see here. There is a new exhibit opening soon about the Iraq war and I will definitely come back and check it out once it’s open. In my opinion this museum is overlooked and you should definitely go check it out if you are in the DC area!

This museum is so big with so much Marine Corps History. One can spend an entire day and would only grasp a small portion of the information presented. There were volunteer guides readily available for a group or those who are eager to take the time to explore in depth about the Corps History.Over 200 plus years of facts to learn and gain a portion of the knowledge. A very engaging exhibit fully interactive and immersive. The replicas of actual weaponry and worn garments during the era. There is a children's section for the family members wanting to take a rest from all the walking. A restaurant and a tavern on the second floor for those lunch and evening meals. The exhibit is ever expanding with up to date information on valuable current day events and for all families who have served, know someone who is serving or just an admiring historian. The museum is all non profit and voluntary donations are welcomed. I donated some of my money to their amazing gift shop. The items in the shop are well worth the price.I'm definitely visiting again soon. Next time I'm checking out the outside of the museum. So much to see in such a short amount of time.

The Marine Corps museum is a fantastic experience. It is an immersive experience as you move through the various time periods of the Corps from its founding to present day war on terror. Each period has amazing displays of artifacts, weaponry, and detailed descriptions. Plan to spend the whole day there to see everything inside the museum and the extensive grounds to walk.

STEVEN M — Google review

My sister, Teresa, and I visited the museum to attend a screening of the film Make Peace or Die, and to see the Marine dress blue uniform, (now displayed in the museum) that Anthony Marquez assembled using pieces donated by the Gold Star families of the 17 Marines killed in Sangin, Afghanistan in 2011.This was an amazing experience. I highly recommend visiting the museum.

The Marine Museum is one of the best museums I've ever seen and I'm exArmy. It honors those who have served very well. Plan a day. There are lots to look at and read. Good tavern in the museum for a break and meal.

This is a great museum. The staff are helpful and the displays are well taken car of. They are always making improvements. The outside trail is nice with stations to stop and reflect on our military. There is plenty of parking , and it is easy to get to right off of 95.

I am absolutely impressed with the quality, detail, and dedication that had been made to give us such a great opportunity to learn and catch a glimpse of what a small piece of our brave men and women stepped up to serve and protect our country and us as a people. Unfortunately, we only had a small amount of time to look around. I honestly would suggest to get have a complete experience would be to have a day to spend taking in the entire museum. This is definitely on our list of places to go back to! And the cemetery. It was so clean, quiet, and serene. Thank you to ALL who have helped keep this place up and running. It is a necessary part of our history!

This is a truly great museum. We spent 3 hours there, could have spent another four or five, Definitely plan for a five - to seven hour visit. Interactive displays and detailed descriptions of all artifacts, which are all originals. Many very rare items as well. Easy navigation thought the many eras of Marine history. Superbly decorated. Large gift shop. Eat at Tun Tavern 🍺.

Great experience here! The museums' exhibits were informative, and the special effects in some spaces were exciting. Really cool displays of Marine aviation aircrafts and history!Kid-friendly with some children specific activities. Some exhibits are currently closed, but look like they'll be interesting once opened. The outside trails are inviting and tranquil.Highly recommend.

Shelby M — Google review

Anything but stodgy, this museum is both engaging and humbling. Whether you have served in the Marines or are just curious about the long history of a storied fighting force, the exhibits do an excellent job of humanizing what is often too easily dismissed as a faceless organization. The storytelling technology is top notch, and the life-size displays make you a participant in the historical situations they depict. Regardless of your position regarding the necessity of war, as an American, this is a must-see museum.

Shawn ( — Google review

Absolutely beautiful and so informative. There is something to look at and experience at every single turn. The way they pull you into the scene not only visually but with sound as well as movement and temperature change at times is like no other place I've ever been. There is also a beautiful walking trail around the grounds speckled with memorial statues and commemorative plaques. I left with an added pride and appreciation for our troops and our country!! Go, you won't regret it!!

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, a branch of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum located near Washington-Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, VA, offers a free museum experience that explores the history of human flight through an impressive collection of aircraft and spacecraft exhibits. With three times the size of its DC counterpart, this sprawling center showcases thousands of aviation artifacts from early manned flights to modern engineering advancements.

Absolutely amazing museum, has an incredible variety of historically important aircraft, has some incredibly unique and rare aircraft on top of that. Only possible downside is that you can't get very close to many aircraft, but it's understandable to the reasons why that is the case, I highly recommend going! It's also free!

Liam B — Google review

An incredible museum with so much to see and amazing exhibits. I was there for a private function which was handled extremely well with excellent food. Awe inspiring historical exhibits and items like the SR-71 Blackbird and Space Shuttle. The IMAX movie was excellent as well.Highly recommend.

Ryan B — Google review

Great experience on a rainy Sunday, crowding wasn't terrible so you could get to any of the exhibits you were interested in. TONS of information and background on both air and space ventures, fascinating.Visitors were friendly and respectful, staff were present and plentiful, the ambient temperature was nice, and the restrooms were clean.Very enjoyable and highly recommended overall, seeing a space shuttle up close is incredible, the sheer size is baffling! For anyone interested in aviation or engineering, you must check out this museum. It costs $15 to park, but $0 to enter the museum.

K — Google review

An extremely fascinating museum with remarkable, one of a kind airplanes, spacecraft and more. Wonderful for any aviation enthusiast, although just about anyone would enjoy walking through here. Far less crowded than the Air & Space downtown, no big crowds when we were there.

Cole K — Google review

So this place was absolutely amazing. We had spent half the day there. The only thing we didn't really get a chance to do was the simulators, but they seemed pretty cool. We even went in the tower. They have to overlook the entire area 360° view. It was nice. You can see a couple runways of Dulles airport from The view. But it had a lot more planes than the museum of DC. It was really cool seeing the space shuttle Discovery and the SR-71. Not to mention countless other aircraft. Passenger Jets personal planes military aircraft it was amazing!.

Michael P — Google review

Absolutely fantastic museum! The collection of aircraft is huge and well curated. Highlights are the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Concord and definitely the star of it all: Space Shuttle Discovery!Participated in a free guided tour, which covered all the highlights and helped get an overview before exploring on your own. Our guide Leslie was really great. It is definitely a little out of the way of Washington, but you should 100% put it on your itinerary. I've even met a few people who visited during a layover at Dulles Airport.Be aware that you can easily spend 3 or more hours there!

This is the greatest museum I have ever been to and I’ve been to hundreds. The historic significance in the aircraft within this museum is breathtaking. I was so blown away with the collections on display so many rare aircraft it’s unbelievable. They have so many aircraft that are the last of their kind in the world. They also have history breaking aircraft on display

Douglas D — Google review

Undeniably, one of the most well put together, interesting, convenient and organized museums in the DC area. Far superior to his sister museum in DC, don’t bother going there. The museum includes free tours every hour by knowledgeable, engaging and friendly tour guides, including some who actually flew the planes they are talking about, such as the SR-71. The museum is free to enter, no reservation required. They even include a section where you can view the restoration process of planes they are planning to display soon. The museum also has several zoom live feeds with experts on specific planes waiting to answer questions and tell you about the aircraft right from their homes!! Highly recommend checking out if you are in the area. Nothing but praise!

This is an ultimate dream for anyone who is interested in aviation. This museum is a class act in historic craft, some which can only be seen here. Both air and space are represented in incredible fashion. This is a must see, free admission, $15 parking past 30 mins. Make some room for this, you’ll spend hours here.

Blake S — Google review

An Amazing collection of airplanes of different types and era. Must visit for airplane aficionado. The volunteers run hourly walking tour. An experience not to be missed. It's huge so give plenty of time. Great collection of space equipment as well

Rupali J — Google review

Do you like aircraft? Does not matter. This place is interesting as heck! Loads of history and neat bits of things to learn. I went on a Thursday afternoon and was there until close. I did not get through everything . There is a lot. This museum have many unique surviving examples of aircraft and other relics.Admission is free, but parking is not.

Brent G — Google review

Great Smithsonian air and space museum without lines or a need to sign up for tickets. Houses the space shuttle Discovery, with so much other space stuff to see. Also has a Concorde jet and just about everything in between. Museum is free. Parking is ample but costs $15. But you can park close to the entrance. Food and souvenirs available for purchase on site. What i emphysema most were the space walk simulator and flight simulator advice were $12 & $10pp, but we'll worth it.

Christyl K — Google review

This is an absolute must do if you’re coming to the DC area. There is so much flight history the minute you step inside. From the early 1900s to modern era planes , engines , capsules, missiles and so much more with history lessons at each corner. Plan on spending at least four hours here which is so well worth it. They do not charge for admission and $15 to park.

Cg223 — Google review

Two amazing and big hangars, full of planes and the space shuttle Discovery. You can easily make a quick stop and just stroll through the hangars in an hour or so, but you can also spend many hours looking and reading about all the history. The museum is free, but you have to pay for parking (i think it was 9$). Quite a fantastic offer 👍

Janus M — Google review

Superb and surreal experience with some amazing planes. It was also very educational. Highlights were the SR-71 Blackbird, F-14, F/A-18, B-29, Concorde, Space Shuttle Discovery. At the end we also did a fighter jet flight simulator where you can choose to either be the pilot or shooter. This is bucket list stuff if you are into planes, aerospace and science! Allow around 2 hours to see everything. Entry was free of charge. Don’t miss this incredible experience

Ganesh R — Google review

If you like Air & Space, this is the place to go. It took a little over an hour to see everything: only stopping to read and take pictures of a few planes and space craft.Great place to go with family and friends. Plenty of parking ($15) unless after 4 pm, then it's free. There is even a little Shake Shack inside with good food and drinks, including beer.Overall, it was a great place to go.

Floyd B — Google review

This is a GREAT Air and Space Museum and it is FREE to get in. Parking is $15 though. The museum is very large and is sparkling clean. There are a lot of planes, jets and gliders on display, with a lot of historical information. There is a huge cafe and a large gift shop too. We enjoyed our visit there.

Sharon D — Google review

Very cool place. SR-71 and the space shuttle on display, and a lots of other aircraft throughout aviation history. I recommend visiting this wonderful museum!Pictures in my review were taken in 2016.

Great museum just outside of Washington DC. The boys loved it and so did we! It's great to see these amazing aircrafts from below as well as from above. The museum is free, you just need to pay 15$ for the parking. Caution: the museum and the store close at 5:30pm.

Marina K — Google review

I am not the plane admirer, for a while I thought I would not visit this place. But for sure it is worth it. My simple advise: if you are in Washington DC, just go! You will see much more than here in the pictures. Basic idea: the spaceship Discovery a Ebola Gay - the plane which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. So you cannot miss this place offering for free flying into the history and and further. In the case you have already been there and you think not much to do the second time: not true, because there is also a cinema and you can watch several different movies about the planes and flying - you have to pay for the tickets. The entrance is free into the Centre is free. You may have the lunch in the dining room. You may buy some souvenirs in the shop. Enjoy!

Katerina S — Google review

Amazing place for Air and Space enthusiasts as well as curious folks of all ages. Great collection including some rare birds - SR-71 Blackbird, Concorde, Enola Gay, numerous creations from Burt Rutan, and lot of special events and activities on special occasions. The free tickets for the activities could run out quickly, and the lines could be long. If you are visiting from the airport, baggage lockers are available. Parking is usually not free, but drop-offs are possible without any fee.

Gopal S — Google review

Without a doubt one of the best air and space museums in the country. They’re always moving things around and adding to the collection so there’s always something new to see. The look into the restoration hanger was incredible as well. Absolutely worth the visit 10 times over.

Brendan S — Google review

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is a very fun and interesting museum. There are various helicopters, planes and rockets. If you like NASA & aeronautics, this place is awesome. Your interest in historical planes, this place will be perfect for you. Summaries of each museum artifact are next to or nearby for a better understanding of them. Space ship Simulators for kids will get their attention easily. The gift shop is a great place to get things for kids as well as things for yourself for memory.

Ted W — Google review

As an aviation enthusiast, this was definitely a must-do when visiting the DC area. It is right next to the airport so you can take a bus over for a few hours and look around. There are even free lockers for your luggage. Notables planes I saw were SR-71, Concorde (Air France Livery), Space Shuttle Discovery, B-29 Enola Gay.

Maxwell G — Google review

Absolutely fantastic Air and Space museum! So many beautiful and well preserved planes and air transport with an amazing organisation with clear information on display. The place is very big so be prepared to walk a couple hours around it. They have a lot of clean bathrooms around the place and water fountains so that was very good!We actually found the air balloon gallery section to be very funny and interesting 😁Definitely recommend this place for a day visit if you're in DC!

Pavinee G — Google review

Great aerospace museum! Lots to check out. Planes, rockets, missiles, the space shuttle Discovery, the Enola Gay, and much more to see. A great observation deck to see the surrounding area including the Dulles Airport. We "flew" through in an hour and a half, but we would love to go back, and spend the better part of a day there.

Will S — Google review

Such an awesome place! Came here for the fighter jets but my mind was totally blown by the space shuttle. The SR-71 and Concorde were cool too. If you’re disappointed that half of the OG museum on the mall is closed this is worth the trip. It might even be better than the original museum even when it’s fully open. Unfortunately I had less than an hour and easily could have spent 2-3 hours here.

Jay T — Google review

Since I was a kid I always wanted to see the Shuttle up close! I finally can check this off my bucket list! This was truly a great experience! From the Lockheed Black bird to the Concord and of course I waited to last to spend the most time with the Discovery Space Shuttle. When you think about how this aircraft went to space, launch the hubble, amongst the many other missions it went to in space. The heat the bottom of the shuttle experienced on re-entry. To be that close to it was a dream come true. This was a great way to kick off our DC trip and I was like a kid on Christmas! This is a must stop destination for anyone who loves great historical aeronautic machines!

Daniel T — Google review

Fantastic place to learn about planes and rocketships. Great, eye-opening experience for children. The museum was not busy on a Thursday morning. The Shake Shack inside was a convenient choice for a quick lunch. The gift shop was big and had a wide variety of products. Parking was $15USD and well worth the drive out here. The amount of planes and things to see here is immersive. Remember to get your FREE tickets in advance.

I like to bring my kids here a few times a year. We all love it.Inside, there is a very nice movie theater, a sandwich shop, gift store, many clean bathrooms, a few exploratory booths for kids and family, and a huge area to explore. Super kid friendly.Outside, a huge parking lot you pay at the entrance. The museum itself is free. There are also picnic tables past the parking lot.Open all year round except Christmas Day.We usually go here when the weather is not super nice because the inside is very comfortable.

Fabbioli Cellars is a family-owned vineyard in Virginia that offers high-quality wines, including award-winning Merlot. The winery has been open for over three decades and has a tasting room with a unique design, shaped like a yurt and offering 360-degree views of the beautiful vineyard. Visitors can enjoy their wine on the patio, lawn or inside the cozy tasting room with comfortable seating.

I visited this vineyard recently with my daughter & my friends. I had never heard of this place prior to our visit. I will definitely be returning. It's beautiful scenery, serene, & an absolutely fantastic place for 🍷🍷🍷 wine tasting. I ended up purchasing 4 bottles of wine, a t-shirt, & 2 Father's Day Cards for my husband & father. Jay's Taco Truck had some tasty 🌮🌮🌮 tacos. They had horses 🐴🐴🐴 on the day we went which was a total surprise. My daughter was thrilled to have been able to interact with such a majestic animal.

This is a great little winery, tucked away from the masses. Had a great time. Really enjoyed the to-go style tasting with food pairing. Great for a date or a group of people.

Ricky L — Google review

Parking was efficient, parking attendant was very kind and helpful. Wine was decent. Service members were not cordial. Went for Harry Potter event, they were out of all speciality beverages by 4pm. Reservation was placed but it was not noted. Would not return to this venue. Lots of potential but unfortunately this was not capitalized on.

Manuel R — Google review

Lovely place, but so many negatives they outweigh that. We called ahead to be sure they were open, and were told yes, and the hours for the day. Made the trip out their horrible access "roads" to find a nearly deserted venue at about 3PM. Two couples, doing their best to keep separated out front as their respective dogs barked constantly at each other. No attempt by management to settle that situation. We go inside, and are immediately told in the coldest of terms that "we are over 21 after 2PM" and we say no problem (all parents and grandparents in the party). But she looks at the 1-month old, sleeping soundly in the carseat, and says "STRICTLY over 21." We left, incredulous that they would have such a policy against infants, with a nearly empty place and loud barking dogs to enhance the atmosphere outside. And that they didn't think to tell us of said policy when we called. Why not just serve us and then let us go over to the area posted for "Families and Picnics" if that was really necessary to give the dog-fight couples their space and tranquility sans sleeping infants? We headed to Vanish and had a great time there, as usual. Praemonitus Praemunitus --- read the other recent (2021) reviews regarding this winery's customer service before you go to Fabbioli Cellars.

We did a paired tasting for four and every single wine was fantastic. The other wineries we tried in the Leesburg area didn't even come close to the quality here. Highly recommend, & we will be going there again to purchase wine again in the future!

We were a group of six, and really enjoyed the sparkling rose and "something white" blend at the Fabbioli Cellars winery. Lovely grounds with beautiful views and flowers, and very friendly and nice staff.

I love this place! We visited back when the winery was the basement and I never forgot about the raspberry merlot. We went back today not realizing it was the same place- they have grown a lot since then! All the wines were great and I loved the themed pairings. As someone who have visited a lot of wineries in California and across the country I can highly recommend this place.

Theresa B — Google review

We are wine club members. I’m not sure what the last reviewer was thinking but the customer service was excellent. Friendly and accommodating staff. The food and wine pairings are excellent. We have been members for a while and joined because it’s a cute little get away from suburbia, not because of the wines. Having said that, the wines have made a quantum leap. I was thoroughly impressed with the complexity and maturity of their latest vintages. If you’ve been here before and weren’t thrilled give them another shot. Again the food / wine pairing is awesome and there are a MANY bottles worth the price. Can’t wait to go there again.

John J — Google review

Went for the Diagon Alley event. Do not recommend unless you get there early. They ran out of drinks (besides their wine) and food trucks closed 2 hours before the event ended. Staff was kind of rude and lines were not planned out well.

Despite the icy-rainy weather, the mulled wine was perfect- as was the venue. Thanks for being open!

Extremely poor customer service and presentation/experience. The pictures attached are from the “Harry Potter pairing”- they handed us styrofoam trays with disposable plastic condiment cups. Seemed like the staff couldn’t care less about the customers or business. Would not recommend.

Great wine and beautiful winery.Updated May 2022:. My sister and I make an annual trip here because we love this winery! The grounds and tasting room are so beautiful. There are lots of seating areas inside and outside. We sat on the patio overlooking the newly growing grape Vines and enjoyed the excellent chardonnay. Their wines are so good, and not too expensive. Staff member Karen was very friendly and fun and was happy to see us again. She came out to take the picture of us for their Facebook page. Love it here❣️

What a hidden gem! Floated through yesterday afternoon on a cloud of tasty wine & bits and then a heavenly bottle of Rose (and strawberry cider) with a group of friends in their ‘speak easy’ patio. Upstairs in the main house the servers were friendly and very attentive. The views were beautiful grassy rolling hills. What a great place to relax and enjoy the afternoon.

Margaret B — Google review

I came here with my siblings for the Harry Potter themed wine tasting and it was AMAZING! I loved the Ladies man and the Perry so much. The little food pairing was amazing as well. The staff was extremely friendly and explained everything clearly to the point that a novice wine taster like me understood. I also tried the flight of cider and got a charcuterie board and I was beyond satisfied. I definitely understand why my sibling is a member of their wine club! I definitely recommend this place and would love to go back.

Jasmine M — Google review

We have been coming here for years and we are truly disappointed with what it has become. Wine flights provided in plastic Jell-O shot cups?! Safe to say this winery isn’t environmentally friendly at all. The staff needs serious training as well. Definitely would not recommend and won’t be returning. If your looking for great wine, great views, great service then drive over to Droumavalla Farm winery. Can’t recommended enough!

N S — Google review

I was in today just to get a bottle, sit and enjoy the weather with some friends. I was very disappointed with the customer service. I knew I wanted to buy a bottle for my group and asked if I could try before I bought it, because I didn't want to buy blind. She acted very rude and hesitant to let me try a taste, I didn't want a full tasting just a swallow to make sure I liked it. She said "well maybe just one or two small tastings but I can't give you a full tasting of course..." in an angry and impatient way. (I didn't want to spend the time for a tasting anyway). I tried two whites, and really did not like the first, the second was ok, I ended up going with the second by default because I felt like I couldn't ask to try something else. It definitely made me decide to not get a second bottle. My friend, who was with me, commented on her attitude as well. Great setting, good wine, but did not like this server.

Ferry closed. Chuck, be the bigger man and give Rockland their per-car pittance to reopen the ferry. You and they are better than this.

Well this was fun I have lived in the area for 30 years and never taking the ferry and we decided to do so when going from Leesburg to Gaithersburg. It was really fun only took a few minutes not a long wait

It is so much fun taking the ferry.. they are efficient & its always faster than i expect. Beautiful surroundings. They have a little grill, boat rentals and rest rooms in the park area right there.

White's Ferry is a popular attraction in the Montgomery County Ag Reserve and a great stop for cyclists traversing the historic C&O canal. Whites Ferry Grill, located here, serves amazing sandwiches.

$2 to take a bicycle on the ferry. Nice little place to drink beer and camp. Confederate statue honoring "heroes."

Such a cute ferry! If you don't mind a wait (5-10 mins) and $5 cash each way, then it's worthwhile to try it out at least once. We enjoyed the ride. :)

Slow but interesting, nice scenery road to relax and drive, don't come this way if you are in a hurry. Cash only, I'm posting a pic of the price schedule.

Even though it's a short ride across the Potomac River it was still pretty cool for our first time. They let you get out of your vehicle and stand on the ferry as it's going across which one child it really enjoyed

Leesburg, located near Washington, D.C. and Dulles International Airport, offers a charming small-town experience with its historic district and nearby vineyards. The town is rich in history but also features trendy shops and top-notch dining options. For those seeking discounts and deals, the Leesburg Premium Outlets on the eastern side of Route 15 are a must-visit destination.

Beautiful and spacious place to go shopping with the family. There are plenty of parking spaces and they even have play areas for kids. I make sure to use all the kids energy on the parks and not in the store 😂

Daniel M — Google review

Nice place to pick up some good deals on brands you know & like/love.

B.D. O — Google review

The best outlet store in Northern Virginia! I’m a fan of their Salvatore Ferragamo, Marc Jacobs, Burberry & Tory Burch. These are my go to shops that you can’t find it at nearby outlet. They have outdoor area for the kids.

RCS S — Google review

Nice place with lots of discount. They also have a food court

Khoa Đ — Google review

This is a good place for shopping especially during sales like Labor Day or holidays. The offers are good and the stores are well stocked. We have always found what we need and in the colors we prefer. The food court gets a little dirty due to high footfall and so we prefer eating out than in the outlet. Also, parking is huge, mark the place you’ve parked to ensure you can get back - you’ll always find families searching for cars here as there are no numbers on light poles 😝

Leesburg Premium Outlets is a shopper's paradise! The variety of stores, great discounts, and clean, well-organized layout make it a go-to destination. Plenty of parking and dining options enhance the experience. Highly recommend for bargain hunters and brand lovers alike!

Really great place to go shopping. I really like the different stores they have here and if your going in the summer time much of the area you will be walking is covered and that is nice. Just a great selection of stores and a really nice food court. Well worth the drive there to check it out.

Had a decent time at Leesburg Premium Outlets, despite the rain dampening our plans. ☔🛍️ The outlet stores offered a good variety of brands, and the discounts were attractive. However, the limited number of restrooms was quite inconvenient, and both were out of order for water refills. It would have been more enjoyable if there were more restroom facilities available, especially during inclement weather. Nonetheless, the attentive staff and some indoor areas helped salvage the day. Hoping for better facilities in the future! 🛒🏬 #LeesburgOutlets #ShoppingDay #RainyWeather #LimitedRestrooms #AttentiveStaff #ShoppingSpree #FourStarReview"

Good deals! Make sure you check online as you are buying. Some items had a better offer online than at the store. they also have a playground for the kids. The stores open around 10 am but some don't open until 11 am. There is a great Restoration Hardware store at Leesburg Outlet!

Excellently landscaped and maintained! I love how they have lane in the middle that caters to differently abled and parents with strollers. I was surprised on how clean the restroom was on a very busy day. Excellent job!

Visiting Leesburg Outlets on Black Friday was as expected packed with cars seeking parking and long lines. Managed to geta smoothie from the Food Court and also able to get a few items before returning.

RR — Google review

Absolutely love this outlet. Every store you can imagine is located here. There are always sales, and great deals. I always find what I’m looking for. It’s big, but not too big that you’ll get tired of walking around.

Natascha H — Google review

Me and my family go here often. We stick to the stores we usually like but they often have good sales, you don't even have to wait for a holiday usually. It's got a good variety of stores that anyone can find something that interests them. Over the summer a few stores had issues with their AC and had to close early and the walkways are outside so be aware of the weather before going shopping. But overall I prefer here to the Dulles Mall before it has better deals!

Leesburg Premium Outlets is one of my favorite shopping destinations. The mall offers a fantastic selection of stores, from high-end brands to more affordable options, ensuring there's something for everyone. The layout is easy to navigate, and the outdoor setting makes for a pleasant shopping experience. The deals are impressive, and I always find great bargains. Additionally, the food court provides a nice variety of dining options for when you need a break. Overall, it's a great place to spend the day shopping and enjoying the atmosphere. Highly recommended!

My family and I have been coming to this outlet mall for years, and we still love everything about it. The indoor Cafe with a few different options to choose from for lunch, and several outlet stores to shop at for our family. Love being able to walk outdoors during the warmer weather and shop.

Loretta S — Google review

This was my first time visiting the Leesburg premium outlet. This is a Simon outlet property very different from the Tangier outlet property in National Harbor. This outlet had more luxury stores. However, I had seen on a previous review that this outlet also had a Gucci store however, there is no Gucci store at this outlet. The only luxury stores this outlet has to offer is Burberry, Marc Jacobs and Restoration Hardware. I visited the Marc Jacobs store, which was primarily handbags and accessories. I was told that the top handle Marc Jacobs tote and straps and perfumes were the only items in the store that did not offer discounts. The Marc Jacobs tote at their stores are the canvas ones not the leather ones. This outlet also offers your customary outlet stores such as Coach, Michael Kors, the Gap, Old Navy, and sports stores, like Nike, Reeboks, and a Ascics. I didn’t like the Nike store only because the women’s section was very very small and didn’t have much variety. The men’s section was probably the largest that I have seen in a Nike outlet and there were plenty of kids items in the store but definitely disappointing that there was not enough Items for women such as T-shirts, more casual clothes or even not enough variety of workout clothes. Even though it wasn’t in the store directory there is a Bath and Body Works store at this outlet. Not all stores at this outlet are “outlet” stores meaning they are not all year around discounted items. Overall, I thought it was a very nice outlet. It was clean. I went on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all. I found the employees in the stores were very pleasant and I didn’t feel not seen or rushed. I lived in Orlando for eight years and this outlet, though not as big as the outlets in Orlando, I thought were on par with other Simon outlets I visited in Florida. The store that I was the most impressed with was the DKNY store because it had a variety of clothing items such as dresses, casual clothing, shoes and accessories that you just don’t see anywhere not even what you see in big department stores. I felt the discounts were generous. If you are in the military or a veteran, and you have documentation make sure you show it at the stores to get veterans and military discount. It varies store to store on how much the discount is and the stores that offer it will have a decal in the windows. I didn’t go to the food court but there are restaurants close to the outlets. It was quite a drive from Alexandria to Leesburg so I don’t know if I’ll visit again anytime soon. But I enjoyed my time there.

Q8storm 2 — Google review

This is one of the biggest outlets malls I have been to. Very easy to find the stores with maps at entrances. Doesn’t go in circles like some of the outlet malls. The entire mall is clean and well taken care of including the bathrooms. Plenty of high quality stores like Under Armour, Nike, Vineyard Vines, etc. There is a battery charging station for your car while you wait. The food court is not the best. Nothing wrong with the choices, it’s the amount of choices. Luckily there are a few fast food restaurants close by if you can’t find something you like.

Andrew I — Google review

This was a good place to visit. They had a lot of stores and some high-end stores as well. I think it is a little better than Potomac Mills but it is far away from where I live. I may go back one day.

Manassas National Battlefield Park, also known as Bull Run, is a historical site where significant battles between the Confederates and Union occurred during the Civil War. It was won by the Confederacy in 1861 and 1862. The park features fields marking these victories and a statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson. There are ranger tours available at the Robinson farm which provide intriguing information about the area's history.

I had an enjoyable experience exploring the battlefield on a Monday in early March. I took the walking tour with the ranger, I don’t remember his name but he was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. There was plenty of parking. Restrooms in the visitors center. I watched the movie after the walking tour. I drove to the stone bridge and the unfinished railroad sites because I was running out of time. You could definitely spend an entire day here.

Miss V — Google review

Smaller but well-maintained battlefield. Start at the visitors center to pick up a pamphlet of the Battlefield and speak to the knowledgeable Park personnel who can answer any questions. An introductory movie plays in the hour in the visitor center. The museum has an informative terrain model of the area that uses colored lights depicting the movement of Federal and Confederate forces to explain how the First Battle of Bull Run unfolded. You can also download and use the NPS app for self-guided walking and driving tours of the battlefield. Enjoy the beautiful views of the distant Blue Ridge mountains as you walk around the area near the visitors center.

Rue — Google review

Beautiful and underrated. Great museum in the visitors center with a fantastic presentation on the battle complete with lights. Miles of open land and places to walk.

Serena R — Google review

Wonderful trail with great view. Trail path is mixed of ups and downs but not too intensive. Recommended as dog friendly. The walking path beside the waterbody is pretty scenic. Best part - there are multiple trails which can be selected as per need for the day.

Jaheed A — Google review

It was ok. Probably the most interesting part was the museum at the visitor center. There is one semi-trail walk, all in the sun, that goes around a field. One confederate statue, some cool cannons and a wooden house. Around 40 parking spots.

Vlad G — Google review

I grew up around this area and walking the battle field never gets old. Very well taken care of and always such lovely people here. This last trip was my first time in the stone house though! Really cool to see and hope to be able to go in again.

This was a visit that brought a lot of history to life. To have been at the Battlefield Park at the end of September 2023, with the heavy clouds, was really a rich experience. I also purchased a two books from the book store, one of which is slave narratives.

Really nice area to walk around and enjoy the Grassland Biome. Also the history of the place is profound.

James C — Google review

Wonderful repository on the history of the region and the country during the late 1800's. Don't stop with the plaques, talk to the staff. There is so much more to the story and the people than can be presented by a monument or information sign.

Ryan U — Google review

Part of history, I drive through it almost every day. When it snows, people sled behind the Stonehouse. It was the beginning of a nation.

We went to Manassas National Battlefield Park. Bull Run is there, and it's where Thomas Jackson earned the nickname Stonewall. The film and battlefield tactics diorama were very good and educational.

Absolutely beautiful grounds, lots of trails to walk so bring your hiking shoes! The cannons and historic buildings really give a glimpse into the past ♥️🤍💙

Kristen W — Google review

We took the grand kids to explore the battlefield. The guided tour was terrific. The ranger was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the battle, especially the context (our tour covered the 1st Battle of Bull Run). The visitor center has a great museum and the movie about the battles was extremely well done. I would caution that the scenes are very graphic and parents may want to discuss the movie before/after if your kids are 14 and younger.

Dan N — Google review

Manassas Battlefield Park is beautiful maintained. The Visitor Center is excellent. Highly recommend the movie prior to touring the Battlefield. Very clean restrooms. The gift shop has an excellent variety of books. Recommend doing the driving tour if this is your first visit. Recommend a visit to Mathew Hill to see the two naval 12 pound howitzers that was used during the battle.

Jiffy Lube Live

Live music venue

Concerts & Shows

Concert hall

Event venue

Outdoor concert amphitheater (formerly Nissan Pavilion) seating 10,000 with 15,000 more on the lawn.

This is a great concert venue! I came here with my family. I surprised my boyfriend in the parking lot with tickets to Breaking Benjamin and Alice in Chains for his birthday. He thought we were just going to dinner and was very confused when we pulled in to Jiffy Lube Live. The venue is huge, and we were at the very top of the stands and still jad a great view. There are even more seats behind there on the lawn, and since it's all on a hill, there's nowhere that has a bad view. There are food and beverage vendors when you get through the gates. I got a yummy veggie burger and fries, and my boyfriend had several different beers that he liked. The prices for food and drinks are very steep, so be warned. Maybe eat before you come and just get drinks if anything. There was also tons of parking, and even with there being lots of people, it was quick and easy to get out after. The concert was fantastic and we had a blast!

Lexie G — Google review

We attended the double concert of Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire! It was an amazing experience! The bands were outstanding, with great vocals singing all their top hits. The best was the finale when both bands came together on stage at the same time to perform 6 of their top hits. The seats were comfortable, and the venue had gigantic big screens and an awesome sound system. I'm glad that I received TWO calls recommending that we arrive early due to anticipated heavy traffic. I strongly recommend upgrading to premium parking, which enables easy in and out access to the venue and the VIP Club Access, which had great food and a clean ladies' room with plenty of stalls. This helped to make for a pleasant evening. Be forewarned, though, that the gates just opened at 6:00, which doesn't leave a lot of time to grab food, by the time you get through security. However, you can bring your own food and tailgate or picnic outside the if you plan to arrive as early as 4:30.

Sandra H — Google review

I’ve never seen a bad show here. Sound is always solid. The food inside is above average. Everything is overpriced but that’s par for the course. I recommend the early parking, especially if you like tailgating and zero traffic upon entry. It is, however, not any faster getting out after the show. Usually takes me about 45 minutes. Buy some pizzas for after the show and do a mini afterparty while you wait. I rented lawn chairs for the first time this past weekend at DMB. I’ll definitely do that again. There was no line to pick them up at the top of the lawn and they told us to leave them on the lawn after the show, so there was no hassle to return them. They were sturdy and had built in cup holders. It was nice not having to lug my own chair around.

Shelly H — Google review

I go to concerts here often. Traffic getting in and out is always an issue. Parking is OK at best. The security has gotten very slow, and all of the lawn chairs and bags definitely slow it down. They need some no chair, no bag lines so people not needing the extra security can get through. The grounds are decent, seating decent, sound is great. Options for food and drinks are pricey but decent and accessible.

Glen M — Google review

Great shows coming this year! Just kicked off the season with Neil Young! Even had a rainbow to start it off.Had a good sausage and fries. Sat on the lawn, and was very comfortable with s decent view. I'm a lawn season pass holder, so I'm going to be here a lot this summer!

Thomas ( — Google review

We arrived early so we had good parking. There were plenty of staff directing cars, which was a good thing. Passed through security quickly. Bought a $40 bottle of wine, which they put in a plastic carafe with lid, and was given two plastic cups. We drank a little at a picnic table and then went in with it. The wine was decent. Had great seats in section 205 and loved the large screen. Saw Yes and Deep Purple. They put on a fabulous show. Really liked the venue, the sound, and the performance.

Joan D — Google review

We went to the Neil Young and crazy horse show on Saturday, May 11 at this venue. There’s not a bad seat in the house. The sound is excellent even up on the lawn. The only real issue is the parking is somewhat mismanaged on. Exit the best advices get out slightly early wait just a little while for the crowd to clear out. Great show Neil!

Alan W — Google review

Had a wonderful time on two visits there to see Yes and Deep Purple, then a few days later Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. These concerts rocked 🤘Excellent venue for concerts. Can be a long ride from DC, Northern Virginia or Maryland on a weekday, but well worth it if the lineup is good. All the hub bub about parking is overblown. Got in and out of the lot quickly and onto the highway for home.

Christopher A — Google review

Enjoyed a great show here - review is not of the show, but of the venue. There are two things that reduced my rating. One is the exorbitant prices for drinks and food. Two large canned alcoholic drinks, $35. Vendors aggressively ask for tips. The second was the quality of the sound. For the main act, they turned up the volume to the point of distortion and I felt the overall musical quality of the show suffered. I was on the lawn, so not sure if the sound quality was better in the seated area. I happened to score tickets via Groupon, so overall the value was good.

Bill W — Google review

The venue has plenty of parking, lots of security, and plenty of bathrooms. Things to note: it can be a bit of a mess exiting and you may experience a traffic jam in the lot. However there are alternate exits that people do not utilize as much. You must have a clear plastic bag if you being anything over a clutch size. They do have plastic drawstring backpacks for $10. They allow tailgating but security is patrolling and making sure large groups are not getting rowdy. Give yourself time to park and walk in. There should be a list online of what you can and can't bring in.I did see staff helping those who need extra assistance.

Jessica M — Google review

Saw Yes and Deep Purple here. The stadium is a large Earthen berm, it is covered and has seats in the section where I was. It was very loud, but that is what Deep Purple is famous for. Reasonable price considering the classic Bands. Parking was free. Large lots were easy to get out of after the show was over. Good organization by the parking staff. Absolutely no problems the whole show and after.

Jeff P — Google review

Great amphitheater! Great headlines! The sunsets are amazing! Always a good vibe!I can even say the organization of parking and exiting has vastly improved! We left the lawn about 10 min after the last song, so a majority of people were just finding their cars. We had about a 7 min walk from the gate to our car. From the time we arrived at our car and turned onto wellington road, was less than 8 minutes! No cap bruh! (I have teenagers 🤣)

Summer T — Google review

It was a great venue, the stage was big and there’s 2 big screens on the side to watch from if you’re in the farther seats or in the lawn. We like the variety of different snacks and food available, also a lot of booths to get drinks from. Although the drink prices were expensive, it’s to be expected at concerts anyway. There is a lot of staff to help out and guide cars in the parking lot, as well as inside the venue. The seating area does get hot and tight though (since it’s an open amphitheater, no AC, just fans) so if you like a more open space - the lawn might be a better option. Parking after the concert, I noticed less staff guiding cars to exit so it took us about an hour just to get out of the parking lot. Otherwise, a good venue still.

Krissi J — Google review

I was there for Chicago and Earth Wind & Fire!! Fantastic concert!! Great venue! Great acoustics! The lawn seating is just right. There are a bunch of food & drink options, but they are a bit pricey. Too bad we can't bring in our own food.

SL R — Google review

This place was amazing for the Odesza concert. The venue was packed and the seating was great! I read reviews prior to going and we had decided to purchase Early parking. There was hardly any traffic when we got there and when we left the traffic was not bad. We were back on the highway heading home within 15 minutes after the concert ended. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for parking if you can, it's absolutely worth it!

Shannah G — Google review

Great venue, but get there early, to avoid parking so far away. There are no shuttle buses from the parking lots. I saw Counting Crows and Santana.Counting Crows were okay (I didn't go there to see them), but Santana was phenomenal. What a great show.

Andrew ( — Google review

A terrific concert venue. Parking area exiting can be challenging depending on the behavior of the drivers. The venue provides traffic cones and some staff directing the action. I think there are far fewer of them in use during the exit phase. Prices are consistent with like venues. A large variety of food, regular beverages, and alcohol are available. There is plenty of Police presence for security. We were there on 7/20 and 7/24.

Rcusher62 — Google review

It’s a great venue but the parking situation is as bad as all the other reviews have mentioned…it’s atrocious that live nation is a monopoly and can’t put a couple million into more exits out of the parking lot that takes on average 1-2 hours to get out of.The parking lot legitimately turns into a war zone post concert. Fights, road rage, people smashing each other’s cars, etc…Either pay for VIP parking or get a hotel in the area…the parking situation will ruin your night regardless of how good the show is.

Jiffy Lube Live Concert Venue Review: A Premier Experience for Music LoversAttending a concert at Jiffy Lube Live is an experience that any music enthusiast should have on their bucket list. Our visit was nothing short of spectacular, from the moment we arrived until the final note of Chris Stapleton's incredible performance. We decided to arrive early, a strategy that I highly recommend to anyone planning to attend an event here. The premier parking option is absolutely worth the investment. Not only is it conveniently located close to the venue, but it also offers shaded areas with grass, perfect for pre-event tailgating. The atmosphere in the parking area was vibrant and full of anticipation, with fellow concert-goers enjoying picnics, games, and good company. In addition to premier parking, we also opted for the Fastlane passes. This turned out to be another excellent decision. The passes allowed us to bypass the long lines and get to our seats early. This early entry also gave us the chance to grab drinks and food without having to battle the crowds, making the whole experience much more relaxed and enjoyable. The venue itself is impressive. Jiffy Lube Live boasts a well-designed layout that ensures good views and acoustics from virtually any seat. The combination of lawn seating and covered pavilion offers options for different preferences, whether you enjoy lounging on a blanket under the stars or prefer the structured seating closer to the stage. The lineup for the evening was outstanding. Chris Stapleton, the headliner, delivered a powerful and memorable performance that left the audience in awe. His soulful voice and commanding stage presence were a perfect end to the night. However, the openers were no less impressive. Marcus King brought a fantastic energy with his bluesy rock style, while Nikki Lane set the tone perfectly with her unique blend of country and rock. One of the most notable aspects of our experience was the efficiency of the event staff. Every interaction we had with them was positive. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful, which greatly contributed to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Whether directing us to our seats, answering questions, or managing the flow of people, the staff did an excellent job ensuring everything ran smoothly.Another significant advantage of the premier parking was the ease of exiting the venue. After the concert, we were able to leave the parking lot quickly and without the usual hassle that often accompanies large events. This convenience added a nice finishing touch to an already perfect night. In summary, our experience at Jiffy Lube Live was exceptional. The combination of early arrival, premier parking, Fastlane passes, and a stellar lineup made for an unforgettable evening. The venue's excellent design, fantastic acoustics, and the friendly, efficient staff all contributed to making this a top-notch concert experience. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the headliner or just love live music, Jiffy Lube Live offers an unparalleled experience that will leave you eager to return for more.

Clean venue, well laid out, and acoustics were great since it is an amphitheater. We saw Imagine Dragons, and the experience was nothing shy of amazing. The seats weren't uncomfortable but not made for wide shoulders. The bathroom layout is slightly confusing considering limited sinks, but bathroom availability and placement were well thought out.

Leslie L — Google review

Just saw Avril Lavigne in concert today. The weather started real crappy. It was raining at the predicted start time so the show was delayed from 7pm to 830. I was okay with that since it took us almost an hour to drive literally 15 mins away from the hotel. Traffic was horrible. The venue was nice. Our seats were good. The concert was great. Avril did an amazing job. Simple Plan rocked. The congestion of traffic getting out at midnight was a handful. Cars all going one way to another. Drunk people and maybe not so drunk people walking around aimlessly in circles looking for their cars. I didnt see any parking post with letters on it to help remember and determine where we parked. We did manage to walk back to our car the correct way though. There were no guides to which way was out. We were just banking on the line we followed that the person in the front knew the right way. Still a decent place to see a concert. I would suggest looking up the concert setlist and sacrifice the last 2 songs and leave the venue early. Otherwise it will take forever to get out.

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is a family-friendly destination that offers a blend of outdoor activities, historical sites, and museums. Established in 1944, the park encompasses numerous historic landmarks related to John Brown and the Civil War, as well as pristine nature spots and viewpoints along the Shenandoah River valley. The town itself features historic buildings, monuments, and a charming downtown district.

Definitely a gem in WV. Free shuttle from visitor center to lower town to see many historic shops, beautiful river views, and old rail trails. Easy walking. Plan to spend half day enjoying the historic park.

This place gets busy. Come early. Parking in town is limited. You will have to come early to do that. Most people park at the visitor center and take the shuttle. It was a 20 dollar entrance fee. The entire town is technically part of the park. There is not much left of the mills. There are a few little storefronts that allow u to view the structures as they were. There are some restaurants in town for a quick bite. U can actually walk from the visitors' center into town. It's pleasant as long as the weather is good. There are some steps, so be careful. The trail begins at the back of the parking lot

Is a stunning location to visit. The walk up the hill opposite HF can be strenuous in places but is worth it for the view over the town. The exhibits in HF are all worth visiting, although some of the talks given are very 'dry.' Some good restaurants in town.

We left home to be at this location not knowing much. But on the way itself we could feel the beauty of the park. Reached there by around 3.30 pm Nov beginning, entry charges are there but worth spending that little money. parked car at the main parking place ( can drive up to the park location some time parking space may be an issue) and used the shuttle bus service free, accommodated kid’s stroller also. When we arrived at final park location the return queue was very long. It’s absolutely beautiful park the sunlight falling on the mountain and colour changing is taking place, amazing natural beauty, slightly cold, had our jacket can spend an hour walking around, great places to have coffee, beer, liquor, and great foods too.By the time we were ready to return not much rush, was around 5 pm about to close usually at 6 pm, driving Back home we choose the chestnut mountain road, another amazing and heartwarming natures beauty.

We drove 5hrs both ways to visit for the day, and it was definitely worth it! The park itself is beautiful, we were there on a misty day and that honestly only made it more beautiful and weathered looking. The way the town blends into the historic park is really fun. I enjoyed the way history and modern living blend together. The park staff we spoke to were also super kind. I highly recommend parking up top and taking the bus down if you can!

"Harpers Ferry is a breathtakingly beautiful place where history and nature meet. Nestled between rivers and surrounded by stunning landscapes, it offers a peaceful escape and a deep connection to America's past.""You feel as if you've stepped back in time, truly a spectacular experience."

Love that a place with such historical significance is a short drive from DC. Park at the park's visitor lot and hop on the free shuttle and enjoy the tour narration. Only downside is you cannot Bring your pets for who can travel with furry friends. The town is lovely. Lots of little shops and a few good places to grab a bite. Check out the Amtrak station when you have a chance. It's cute. The surround outdoor spaces provide ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery.

We absolutely loved our visit! We took a short walk around the town and then played in the river for hours. It was very hot in early July (no surprise there) but the water felt amazing. Definitely would need water shoes. They had a pay phone on your way into the park which was one of the kids favorite things. They all wanted to take a turn using it. I can't say that I expected that "historical" aspect to be a highlight. It is also cool that you can walk across the river from one state to another.

We made an unplanned visit to the gorgeous Harpers Ferry on a Saturday. We paid the entry fee of about $20 for our car and parked at the visitor centre. From there, we grabbed a map, spoke to a friendly ranger and boarded the free shuttle bus (operates every 10 minutes) to the Lower Town district area. Wow, this area blew us away.. beautiful landscapes on one side and vintage towns on the other. A mix of history and adventure, Harpers Ferry was a delight! We walked on the bridge, went down to the river and also grabbed an ice cream in the town. Restrooms are available at the visitor centre. Next time we visit, we would love to do the famous Maryland Heights trek. Overall, we loved our short and sweet visit to this national historic park.

I've never heard of this town until my dear friend mentioned it a few days ago, and I was absolutely bowled over! The breathtaking views everywhere you look are just amazing, a...nd I got to touch the Shenandoah River!!!! Love, love, love 🤩😍❤️🖖

A beautiful place set back in time with good food and a friendly atmosphere. Even though it was a non busy holiday there were still plenty of people. The town is small but definitely something worth visiting

Darren S — Google review

My 1st visit. It was a whim trip. I enjoyed what I saw for the little amount of time I had before the buses stopped. I hope you enjoy my pics. The guy at the booth said my ticket was good for 3 days??? Oh hell yeah! I'll be back for sure.

Maggie W — Google review

I would highly recommend spending the day at Harper’s Ferry. When you get there, go to the visitor center and talk to the ranger. The lady I talked to gave me a lot of helpful tips on where to go and what to see. She wanted to make sure I walked across the bridge and it was well worth it. It was an overcast day, so I opted not to go to the overlook. Going to the park, was well worth the detour.

Trina H — Google review

Wow, this is a crazy cool property where the National Park Service not only owns and manages the open space park but part of the village as well. Step back in time with a historical visit of this amazing park. This is a no trash park, so pack it in and pack it out. I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming throughout the park.

Will H — Google review

Lots of cool history here. If in the area I would put it on a must see list. My suggestion would be to park at visitor center and take the bus into town. It was well worth the $20 to park. The town is congested and little parking is available. The rangers have maps and good knowledge of the area and will help you with any questions you may have. Lots of little museum's to visit that tell the history of what happened there. Nice walking trails small shops and places to eat.

Nick — Google review

Wonderful little town with lots of history. We went mostly to hike up to the overlook. This is a gorgeous hike but all uphill and all downhill on the way out, so be prepared with lots of water and hiking poles if needed. Gorgeous views of the town at the apex of the hike! My only comment is I wish the H20 refill stations were more obvious. We had to ask at the park store. There is a water pump outside the store across the sidewalk from the flag but it's not marked so you don't know if it's potable or not. (It is drinkable but we wouldn't have known that!) Overall a great place to visit and next time we're going to check out tubing on the river since we saw people doing that.

Kathy B — Google review

This is at the top of my list of all-time favorite parks I’ve visited.Sometimes I go to a park fully aware of what I want to see and do. This visit I just knew I wanted to explore the history and do some hiking.I went to the visitors center and spoke with the ranger there about what I was interested in doing. She was so helpful and gave me a few maps while pointing out the hikes that’d suit me. It couldn’t have been a better day.In no time at all I hopped on the free shuttle to lower town and immediately went to the trails. The views at the top were so iconic and picturesque that it was hard to leave.Eventually I hiked back down and explored the town’s history a little. Then I meandered (as I usually do) back onto the trails and ventured along the river trail and ultimately Appalachian Trail. It was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to come back.

Nick L — Google review

Beautiful historical hike and middle of the Appalachian Trail! The trails are well marked and have detailed descriptions of the historical significance of each location. It was very educational to read and stand in the same areas on the ridge line where the soldiers fired cannons into the city. The meeting of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers is crazy cool from the overlook. We are going to come back and do a river rafting/kayak or float tour. All the people were having a great time floating/paddling the rivers!

Morgan L — Google review

Buy the America the Beautiful Pass and you are all set! We went here on weekend and parking slots are vacant a lot. Park includes natural walking trail, river, old buildings and lots of local shops. Shuttle buses are always available. A must-go park, that’s all I can say.

Khanh D — Google review

Nice place to hang around, with a mix of historical and natural learning resources. Historical aspects are military, industrial and cultural, with a well-preserved and well-reproduced village. The Appalachian trail crosses here, around its middle point, and the section that overlaps with the park is well-maintained and well-marked.I only had a few hours to spend here, and the price of entry was a bit high for that, but the entry ticket is valid for 3 days; I am sure 3 days would be useful to see more of the area.

François D — Google review

Spent most of the day there Sunday before labor day. Be sure to bring water for the many miles of hiking trails. John Brown museum was nice . Other museums were closed for renovation but they should be open next year.

Jeffrey H — Google review

Beautiful area right on the river with multiple trails that are great for time outdoors with the bonus of historic spots posted throughout. Plus, being right in the historical Harper's Ferry area with restaurants, shops, cute B&B's, etc. Clean and peaceful on the trails. Can be busy during specific times of day and year.My only complaint is the very limited parking available, specifically for the trails and river access.Being someone who lives within the area, I am able to enjoy more frequently with friends and family, but if you are not from the area, it's definitely worth visiting for a day trip or to add to your list of trails.

ML P — Google review

Very enjoyable visit. My son opted to walk the train instead of taking the bus. We took the main park trail down to the town from the visitor center and a part of the Appalachian Trail going back up. Happy to visit once, will go back just to do some more hiking.

Wineries & Vineyards

Greenhill Winery & Vineyards is an expansive property spanning 128 acres, boasting a charming and rural atmosphere complete with natural ponds, a river, and an antique Club House dating back to 1762. The winery offers delicious wines produced exclusively from Virginia-grown grapes such as the classic Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Meritage blends. Visitors can also relish in their savory Charolais beef and honey harvested from their own apiaries.

Great wines, service is (mostly) knowledgeable. Not overpriced, their Bordeaux-style offerings compete favorably with the best (overpriced) blends of Napa. Techie, too. New egg fermentation barrels.

M K — Google review

Very pleasant first visit. Lovely setting and appreciate the indoor/porch/outdoor seating options. Wine was very good and all Virginia-sourced, though we found it pricier than other Virginia-sourced vineyards. Did a tasting then each had a glass of Viognier and Merlot. We had the Italian Mezze and Beef Pate plates and they were beyond delicious. Will certainly be back.

Greenhill Winery in Middleburg is a hidden gem with a beautiful, scenic setting. The manor house, complete with a picturesque pond, adds to the charm of the property. The staff, particularly Jed and Trey, are welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable, making every visit a memorable one. The wine itself is exceptional—my personal favorites are the Blanc de Blancs and Philosophy. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, Greenhill offers a members club with exciting events like First Fridays, wine tastings, and release parties. It’s the perfect spot for both wine enthusiasts and those looking to enjoy a relaxing day in a stunning vineyard.

Janine G — Google review

Greenhill is undoubtedly the premier destination for wine enthusiasts in Loudoun County, boasting an exceptional selection of wines. As loyal patrons and members of their wine club, my family and I have been frequenting Greenhill for several years. Being a discerning wine connoisseur with a predilection for Bordeaux, I am particularly meticulous when it comes to the local wines I indulge in. Fortunately, Greenhill consistently surpasses my expectations.Initially, I was taken aback by the presence of numerous one-star ratings for Greenhill. However, upon closer examination, I realized that most of these complaints pertained to issues with the venue, whether warranted or not, and not the quality of the wine itself. This trend is regrettably prevalent in many review posts, where people tend to prioritize rating based on the ambiance and setting rather than the wine—a practice that starkly contrasts with my own approach. While there is nothing inherently wrong with considering the venue, for me, the wine takes precedence.Let me be clear, if I were in search of mediocre wine, I could easily acquire it at a considerably lower cost from a local store and find a pleasant location to savor it. However, what truly sets Greenhill apart is its unwavering commitment to crafting exceptional, well-crafted wines. Rest assured, Greenhill consistently delivers on this front, leaving no room for disappointment. It is essential to understand that Greenhill is not the ideal destination for those seeking a rowdy party atmosphere with light, fruity, and sweet wines. If such an experience is what you desire, then perhaps Greenhill may not be the best fit for your preferences. Nonetheless, I must acknowledge that there are occasions when a good, sweet wine hits the spot, although this is not the primary focus of what Greenhill has to offer. In summary, if you are searching for a remarkable selection of high-quality wines, skillfully created and presented in a splendid setting, Greenhill will undoubtedly exceed your expectations. However, if you are seeking a lively, exuberant atmosphere and wines that lean towards the lighter, fruitier side, you might want to explore other options. At Greenhill, it's all about the wine, and they excel at providing an extraordinary experience for true wine enthusiasts.

My favorite vineyard I've found in northern VA! The truffle popcorn was literally the best popcorn I've ever had. If you're vegan, they can do it w/o the butter! The "Superstition" wine is a great summer choice for red wine lovers. I am typically a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot guy, but the Superstition hit the spot, being lighter-bodied than them both. The staff was phenomenal, the Tasting Room was very quaint and the vineyard views were on point. I highly recommend Greenhill Vineyards!

Tyler D — Google review

Beautiful setting with delicious wines. The tastings are informative, and the staff is well versed in the language of wine.

Kenny T — Google review

We had a private tasting here to celebrate my birthday. The winery team was incredible to work with and made the day perfect. On top of that, the wine was delicious! We will definitely be heading back here for more future fun.

Patricia R — Google review

The views are lovely and the staff is friendly. This winery is dog friendly and no one under the age of 21 is allowed. I love that. The wines are quite good, but rather pricey. I'm a member and have enjoyed my experiences. With COVID-member and policy has been a little helter skelter. I had a reservation, and my party was asked to move twice. ****Edited Review*** Terrible customer Service even as a member. If you get a bottle you don't like, Tough toenails! They will not exchange it or offer any recompense to salvage the relationship. I took a friend for a tasting and the wine was clearly oxidized, we both noticed it. Oh well, "too bad" is the attitude. In addition, the reds are not very good at all. Whites are okay, they are drinkable. I have gone to this winery for the member events and the no child atmosphere. Never again.

Adorable winery with spectacular views - rose was the way to go - lovely service and beautiful outdoor and indoor seating ♥️☀️

Kelli D — Google review

Normally, we don’t visit wineries with such a low rating (4.1 is awfully low and this one has plenty of 1-star reviews), but we decided to give Greenhill Vineyards a try because it was closest to our Salamander getaway. The experience was strange from the start. An employee asked how many people were in our group (we were 8), and then happily mentioned that if we were 10, they would have turned us away. Their policy is none of our concern, as we were just stopping for a glass of wine with a group within their requirement. However, as we heading to our table, an employee with a strange attitude repeated the part about turning us away if we were 10, which was off-putting, to say the least. The wine itself wasn’t bad, but it’s overpriced at $40-50 per bottle compared to other wineries in the area. While the staff was generally friendly, the management’s bizarre attitude made it hard to enjoy the experience. Next time, we’ll probably head to Cana instead, where the atmosphere feels much more welcoming and less rigid. Out of curiosity, I checked other reviews, and all the negative comments about management’s attitude are spot on—Greenhill’s overall vibe left a lot to be desired.

Alexey G — Google review

July 3rd was our first time visiting this winery. They are only dog friendly outside, not inside and given the hot and humid July temps, we won’t be back until the Fall/Spring when the temps are cooler for our pup. But we made it a quick visit to at least try the wines and they are delicious! The staff is knowledgeable and the scenery is beautiful.

Kristin M — Google review

It is a nice winery, with large outdoor spaces with tables and benches, great for a picnic. The site is very clean and well organized. Wine is excellent, but some wines are available only by bottle, not by glass. Unfortunately, you can't get "wine tasting" outside (you can only get a glass or a bottle). Place is elegant, but the bill is a bit more expensive than other wineries.

Roberto A — Google review

A perfect winery to visit in Middleberg, Va. My family had a wonderful time! We did the tasting and ordered some delicious charcuterie boards! Soooo good! Tray, was excellent gave us a lot of information about each wine and was so friendly!!!

Stephanie T — Google review

Disappointing! :-(We were hoping for a wonderful experience, but unfortunately it was anything but. The attendant/hostess seemed a bit too authoritative and somewhat abrupt. The tasting ($20) was totally unremarkable. None of the wines offered even warranted a second sip! I'm no wine authority, but I do know what I like. The wines seemed too "green" and immature; undeveloped. "Life is too short to drink bad wine." :-)Our hostess was, IMO, inappropriately dressed for the position and her fingernails were short and dirty, which was extremely off-putting. As as first impression at a posh Middleburg location for a wine tasting, we were totally underwhelmed. Expected much better. On a positive note however, the grounds and winery property itself were impressive. The Fall foliage and vineyards blanketing the rolling Virginia hills were spectacular!

Melanie G — Google review

This winery and it's grounds are absolutely stunning. The best part, NO KIDS allowed🙌🏼 Thank you to the genius behind this rule...note this is posted in their website, as you drive up to the parking lot and on the walkway to the entrance; no room for "surprise". The seyval blanc was my favorite, however, all of the wines were very smooth. The staff are more than accommodating and super friendly. We had a private tasting and hung around after for a few glasses. We joined their wine club and can't wait for our next pick up.....which is totally worth the almost hour drive.

Sylvia H — Google review

I had a wonderful time visiting a friend and tasting wine at this winery yesterday. The tasting areas are nicely decorated and help reduce background sounds. Their wine was also surprisingly delicious.

Liz W — Google review

Wonderful consistently good wines. Dry Riesling a highlight. Had a wonderful tasting with Kristel (maybe misspelled, but very knowledgeable and fun lady with red hair). Def coming back!

Sydney T — Google review

I’ve had an amazing experience every time I’ve been here. The wine is high quality and it’s so pleasant and relaxing!

Hannah B — Google review

I really liked this winery. We did the flights, which offered a very generous tasting for 2 people. The grounds are beautiful & the staff is friendly. If you live in the DMV, it’s definitely worth a the drive for an adult-only afternoon. They do offer a cheese plate. Although we didn’t try it (one is lactose intolerant/the other not a fan of cheese), it looked delish!!!

C W — Google review

Awesome views, friendly service throughout visit, pleasant experience with no obvious flaws! Worth a visit for sure. $20 tastings. Wine selection is mainly classic grape varietals. I love sweeter wines but be aware the selection consists of dry wines only (wine with residual sugar). Go elsewhere for sweet wines. Otherwise, let me summarize by saying the beautiful property and calming, relaxing atmosphere kept us here enjoying the charcuterie and fresh bread (no butter :..( , lol) regardless of the lack of sweet wine selection I usually prefer. Keep in mind I’m 27 and not a sommelier by any means, which is why I won’t comment much on the actual wine selection. My partner LOVED the selection, especially the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, so you may also. Check photos of the tasting and ordering menus to decide yourself, but I can comfortably say this place is worth the visit if you have time! I had fun :).

River & Trail Outfitters - Harpers Ferry Location

Raft trip outfitter

Tours

Adventure sports

Adventure sports center

An option for white-water rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, biking & hiking excursions.

This was so much fun. The raft guides were all so great and knowledgeable. We had 3 rafts in our group which is how I got to experience more than one guide. The views were amazing you won't be disappointed. We got to swim the river and float down the river in a small current. Highly recommended. It's a 3 hrs tour on the river so eat before or pack a lunch for after. Light snack was provided mid tour. Closed toe water shoes recommended.

R W — Google review

We brought our company of 25 people for an adventure and moral boosting experience and got both. The staff overall was awesome, especially with the water battles. By some measures this may not have worked out so well. It was sort of dark and gloomy day out, the rain was off and on, and the rapids were not real big. But the crew found some other ways to create adventure and the weather left a mist in the mountains like we were in Cost Rica. There were just beautiful sights all along the trip down the river. What we lacked in rapids and sunshine, Greta our guide made up with enthusiasm and humor. She was the sunshine and really made a great trip, extraordinary. Greta was witty, enthusiastic, and humorous all day; our boat was just laughing and having a blast all day down the river. One time she was explaining how we were at the part of the river where it divided Maryland and West Virginia. I asked what state are we in right now? She said “the state of confusion”. It sounds cheesy but her humor was smart, clean, and fun. At one point my son was goofing around and pushed me in the water. Even though I am every bit of 220 lbs. Greta was able to pull me safely back into the boat, she is really something special. The main instructor was also awesome with stories and humor on the bus ride to and from the river entry. All and all I would do this again with same company great time and hopefully the same staff would be there.

Omg my husband and I had an absolute blast yesterday white water rafting!! Gigi was our guide and she was amazing. All the other guides were amazing as well. Such great energy and vibes. We loved it so much! Highly recommend this place. The bus driver was hilarious too!

I had an incredible time with River Trail Outfitters in Harper’s Ferry! The white water tubing was thrilling and so much fun. The staff was friendly and professional, and the equipment was in good condition. The river was beautiful, with just the right mix of rapids and calm sections. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an adventure!

Came with a group of 12 and we had the best time! From the initial introduction to actually being on the river the entire team was great and made us feel safe and comfortable. We had Lexy in our raft as our guide and she made it so much more fun! She explained everything clearly and gave us clear directions throughout the ride. We were laughing the entire few hours we were with her and all agreed that we'd 100% request her specifically when we come back.

My Girl Scout troop loved going White Water Rafting with River and Trail Outfitters! I have been highly recommending them to all the GS troop leaders I know. The office staff was a pleasure to book with, the guides on the boats were knowledgeable and wonderful with the teenagers and troop leaders. We just had the best time. Last spring, we went river tubing with them and had a great time as well. This is a great company! Photos were of two of our guides - absolutely wonderful!!

My wife and I had never done whitewater rafting before, and this was a great first experience. The guides were funny, kind and helpful, making this a wonderful experience. I would recommend this group to any first-timer or somebody wanting to have a fairly casual day with class 1-2 (and one 3) rapids.

Great fun and Charley is an excellent, perfect guide. Waters aren't too rough, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous in the fall, lots to look at in between white water excitement. Great for kids and adults without kids alike. Definitely recommend for anyone in the DMV area and also for tourists.

We rented a tandem kayak from their Brunswick Family Campground location and really enjoyed the self-paced trip down river, with the current. The only critique I have is that we had to wait at the takeout point for a really long time for the shuttle.

Julie P — Google review

Had a very fun first time white water rafting! Took a 9:30am trip down the Potomac with guide Ronan, who expertly guided the raft around the many rocks exposed due to low water conditions. We enjoyed rafting, swimming, and beautiful scenery. Would definitely do it again.

Michelle J — Google review

We had a good experience doing the Harper's Ferry tubing trip on the Shenandoah! It was relaxing and definitely mellow enough for our not-so-adventurous 8-year old. I think the water level was lower than usual this time of year due to the lack of rain so we were bumping into rocks frequently but it is what it is! Really peaceful scenery. We went late morning during the week so it was pretty quiet, not a lot of other people out tubing. Very friendly staff!

Katrina A — Google review

We had a blast our first time ever rafting. I'm so glad we went to River & Trail Outfitters. Our guide Hayden was fun and professional. We're definitely coming back! The Shenandoah and Potomac rivers are beautiful here and so is the surrounding area. 😎

Nicole T — Google review

Had a great experience rafting today. Such a beautiful experience. Our guide buddy was awesome, have a great experience.

Lisa A — Google review

The staff there were really friendly (Buddy/Tim, etc.) and made us feel very welcome. Tim was our guide - he was great! Not only was he very experienced with the river, etc., he made our family trip extremely enjoyable through his wit and local, historicknowledge of the river (pointing out points of interests, etc.). I'd highly recommend requesting Tim...although all the guides seemed extremely pleasant and we heard laughter coming from all the other boats that day. The weather was perfect, and River and Trails Outfitters was a great choice for this family time - truly appreciate each of you that played a part in our trip. Thank you so very much. Due to the time of the year, an alternate route (Potomac) was chosen (lower water), so consider that for your trip - this was perfect for us the first time around, getting acclimated with rafting, and we'd do this all over again, however, thinking my son and I are looking forward to another round in Spring, after some serious rain! Thanks again R&TO, Vic and Family...

I had a fantastic tubing experience with River and Trail Outfitters in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. I highly recommend their services for a memorable tubing adventure.

The Shuttle ride and the Whit Water Rafting were all amazing experiences. Tommy kept us entertained on the shuttle with the puns and stories and our Raft Guide Sasha was amazing. She was patient, clear with the instructions, and a great conversationalist! My family and I had a wonderful time and definitely think we'll be back!

Amazing experience for our group. Loved the dad jokes on the way to the starting point and the agility of our lead to adjust to the humor of our guys. Glenn is a HIGHLY experienced rafter who ensured the safety of the group but also provided thrills to those in his raft. Glenn recognized the team building nature of the excursion and immediately began encouraging and complimenting the guys on the ability to work as a team. Best part was floating down the river on our backs. Can't wait for the next cohort to experience the views.Clean changing rooms.

River & Trail Outfitters provided an amazing experience for my wife’s birthday! From start to finish, everything was well-organized and enjoyable. The guides were outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we all had a great time. We appreciated that the trip started on time, and the break in the middle with snacks and water was a nice touch. The staff at the front desk were equally impressive—welcoming and helpful. Their store was well-stocked with everything you might need for the trip, which was a lifesaver for those last-minute forgotten items.Overall, it was a fantastic day, and I highly recommend River & Trail Outfitters for anyone looking for an exciting and well-run adventure!

I really didn’t want to leave this review, but the management of this hotel has left me no choice. I stayed at this location in the beginning of Oct 2024 for a two night stay. The room appeared clean, and we were very tired the next day so we extended our stay. Turns out, the room has a bed bug infestation and I am covered in horrible itchy welts. Every attempt I have made to contact housekeeping or hotel management has been ignored to even report the issue. At this point I have spent hours of my life on hold to speak to literally anyone to report the infestation, and have been actively ignored. I’ve left messages with hotel management that have not been returned. I was promised by a front desk member that honestly could not care less about the problem that someone will be contacting me about the incident in their risk department and no one has contacted me. All I can say is that they very clearly do not care enough about my personal property being compromised or my BODY BEING COVERED IN BED BUG BITES to address the issue so please stay at your own risk.Update: Just wanted to highlight the fact that the “owner” responded to my review, but never returned a phone call, never cared about the bites on my body, never cared about my luggage and clothes I had to throw away, never cared about the fear and stress I have about staying at unclean hotels now that I’ve experienced this at their hotel, but will be sure to “communicate this to the team.” Thank you “owner” for publicly cementing my point in making this review. Please stay at this hotel at your own risk, they obviously don’t care about you. I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Charles Town about a half mile away and had a vastly better experience there, and they also run a bus to and from the casino at that location as well.

This was a nicer hotel than we thought it would be. The friendliness of the staff and the people staying here was outstanding! Track view rooms are nice, even more in the morning for horse workouts.

Crystal coordinates the breakfast. She is the best. only place we will stay because of her. Nathan at the front desk was very professional. We appreciate his efforts. witnessed someone being rude to him and he handled it better that I would have. good guy.

4/9 I asked night shift why the side door was locked and he told me that its so he can watch suspicous people like me come in and keep a eye on me.Completely unprovoked. He looks suspicious flirting with the male employees who work at the hotel. You got hotel staff just hanging over the desk like Pamela Anderson worked there. After he said that I tried fighting a guy in the parking lot and everyone else that had his attitude.Ask and you shall recieve.when I came back from sheets he was watching me out the blinds like a sex offender.the guy who checked me in before that was looking at me like I was wierd but he was polite and respectful, actually very pleasent.there was a pill left that house keeping should have seen.turns out to be a antibiotic for a dog.But I'm sure those aren't good for children to consume.I am contacting the owner.

Very nice hotel, with excellent front desk staff. The 10 dollar a day amenity charge seems a bit much for hard boiled eggs, that you have to peel yourself, and cereal. With that being said, we still stay due to the caring front staff, clean rooms and shuttle to the casino.

Your shuttle drive, on March 21 Thursday at about 10:30 am or so was so excellent and thoughtful, I believe his name was Larson. If not look who drove this morning. What a honest and kind man he was wish more people were like him , Marie Henry

We travel up to north a few times a year and this is always our halfway stopping point. I've heard it described as a basic hotel and I suppose that it is....BUT it is our favorite....husband, 10yr old, 8yr old.It is ALWAYS clean. The staff is ALWAYS super helpful and friendly, and it always has a really distinctive good smell that my kids walk in and take a big whiff and say ahhhh Charles Town....🤣.Last month when we stopped one of my boys left their Nintendo switch in our room upon check out. When we called it hadn't been turned in, which we didn't expect it would be. Later that day the manager called and it had been turned in when the cleaning staff had finished for the day. She helped us with how we could get it mailed back to us, and it we received it back very quickly! There are really good people in the world and the Inn at Charles Town is full of them!We have stayed here for years and always will!

My husband and I just recently stayed at the Inn at Charlestown and I was so disappointed to see how this once beautiful property has become so dirty and shabby. The elevators and elevator tracks were filthy, the carpet in the hallways had dust along the baseboards and stains. Walls scuffed, fingerprints. Our bathroom took the award! The black mold in and around the glass shower door. Even the sink didn’t shine like it was clean . This property looks terrible and has fallen from grace. I’m surprised the Casino would allow this type of representation. Poor management.

Tami B — Google review

We had a great time. The room was great. Would recommend to family and friends. The continental breakfast was disappointing. Cold hard boiled eggs, no fruit or dry cereal.

K K — Google review

Very nice place to visit for sure. We didn't get to see any horse races, but we were there earlier in the week, but we did get to see them practice while eating breakfast.Next time we visit, we will request a room on with the track view.

B C — Google review

Great location, very reasonable rates, incredibly nice staff (had a little issue with reservation and front desk staff were very quick to get it addressed), awesome location to visit multiple towns & activities, with the race course and casino right next door. Will be back again in the future!!

Joe L — Google review

If you get a room on the side with horses, you can watch them race from your room. The rooms are nice.

Serenity C — Google review

I’m here now and when checking in yesterday my check in time was at 4 my room wasn’t ready till almost 5 .then we get in our room the blanket was dirty so we asked them to come change it they acted like that was a problem then they changed it and it was still dirty and then for the casino make the kind of money they bring in the breakfast was nothing but pastries, oatmeal or cereal. The only nice customer service we got is when we first checked in . Would not recommend staying here unless you have free nights you are better off somewhere else.

Stephanie1 M — Google review

Nice rooms. Complimentary breakfast needs real food. We can do toast and cereal at home.

Patti S — Google review

I really wish the reviews for this place better reflected what to expect because I saw 3-4 stars and was not ready for what this place really is- which is an old, very basic, motel style hotel next to a casino. The carpets were all dirty through the hotel, elevators always had trash. Our room was mostly clean but the shower was old and stained, the walls were scuffed up, holes in the lamp shades and curtains. This place is 2 star on its best day. It smelled like stale smoke and just is not something I’d ever care to visit again. The staff also sold us a bottle of champagne they insisted was real champagne that was a step up from Andre. Would not have purchased if I had known. No restaurants or bars. It’s a bare bones hotel/motel that reminds me of an oldhome2suites but not suites. If that makes sense. Would not visit again. That being said- staff was all extremely friendly and the little market is fairly well stocked with things like ramen and chocolate bars if that’s your thing. We stayed due to seeing Pete Davidson at the casino and I guess just anticipated more along the lines of your typical casino/hotel combo. Wish I had done more research!

Kelly S — Google review

Staff are very friendly & hotel always smells clean. Free shuttle from the hotel to the casino that usually runs until 2am.

Very friendly and helpful staff.Nice room(suite). Best jacuzzi tub ever!Had a nice time. Would definitely recommend.

Specialty Museums

Early 19th-century jail-turned-museum exhibiting historical artifacts from the town, county & state.

We took our grandkids to the museum and jail as part of an outing. It was very, very popular with all of us. Both the museum and the old jail were fascinating. Our 9 year old was impressed by how tough the maximum security cells were. Great history outing!

Ron S — Google review

Great museum, lots of interesting stuff. Tour guide is the best, very knowledgeable on the history of the jail and Fauquier county. Whether you're visiting or a resident. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Mike F — Google review

We would like to express our appreciation for your friendship and partnership over the past six years. Hosting weddings in the museum courtyard has offered something truly unique and special to dozens of couples every year, and your generous gift to Ashleigh & Joe for their recent 1st Friday wedding will bring even more guests to learn about Fauquier history firsthand!

Ciao C — Google review

What a great museum, great town. The two ancient jail buildings were built in 1808 and 1823, with the original jail courtyard in between. The exhibits inside are excellent and respectful of the county's fascinating history. The docents who work in the museum are just fantastic, super friendly and knowledgeable. Truly a must see.

Basil M — Google review

We stopped here on a whim while visiting Warrenton and it was well worth it. It was interesting to learn more about the history of Fauquier County and Warrenton, but especially about the jail itself though the many years it was used. Be sure to visit the maximum security area - it was a bit spooky, perfect for October!

Nancy G — Google review

This was our second time coming here. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a history lesson on the jail and stories involving the people who inhabited the jail and then sent us off to explore. There was so much to see from information about the women's suffrage movement, native American artifacts, murder weapons from the 1800s, artifacts from the jail, the courtyard and jail cells..and so much more. It was informative, fun, ominous at times, and just a neat part of history and Warrenton.

Jessica Z — Google review

An AMAZING place to learn about the local history of Fauquier! All the exhibits are full of so much information, but it’s easy to read, making it accessible for any audience. Not to mention, they do other fun events like ghost tours, weddings, and they were even featured on a paranormal show! Whether you’re a local, or just visiting, this is definitely a place to cross off of your Fauquier bucket list!

Alex L — Google review

It was pretty interesting. Visited this site as a ghost hunt. Brought in our own equipment and got some pretty good reads.

Miguel L — Google review

Very interesting perspective on people's lives that you cannot find elsewhere. Host was supremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Al C — Google review

Awesome little slice of history right in the heart of Warrenton. There are plenty of exhibits and historical artifacts to see. The old jail cells are fun to walk through and imagine what it was like back when it was an active jail.

Travis R — Google review

Interesting visit to Fauquier History Museum. Lots of Interesting artifacts from local area. Museum in located in old jailhouse. Very interesting history of prison. The gentleman at enrance/counter where paid admission, he was also the historian. Wow, great stories. And he is still collecting stories from area residents who grew up in the area telling stories that were handed down through family from generations. Willard Scott is from Delaplane, VA. His Emmy is in museum donated by family.

Philip Carter Winery is a lovely family-owned and operated historic winery that offers four and six wine flights for tasting. The wine server provides an excellent experience, even offering a sample of their port-style wine. Visitors appreciate the easy-to-carry plastic flights and the option to pour samples into glasses. The winery's dedication to making the best of each year's crop is commendable, and visitors express a desire to see unique hybrid grape strains in the future.

Beautiful winery! Wines and ciders are delicious! Very friendly, capable and accommodating staff. They have live music and fun events like virtical wine tasting, and barrel tastings. We have introduced many friends to Phillip Carter and are always so proud to bring them as we know their wines and cider are the best and they will have a wonderful time!

We took the wine & picnic tour. We had the best time. Jan was phenomenal. She was knowledgeable, intelligent, and very fun. They have a nice gift shop, all very affordable. Very clean and inviting. The entire staff was helpful and heart-warming. There are so many wine options, but the staff will gladly help you choose based on your liking. We were able to purchase glasses of wine before the tour. The tour does take you outside, so I advise appropriate attire. The tour is interesting and insightful. We ended inside for our tasting. We were able to taste many wines (Which individually were described upon our sheets.) We laughed and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Would recommend to anyone and hope to return. *We were also given complimentary glasses to take home. They also bagged our picnic leftovers. Just great service. Thank you!

Lindy E — Google review

This place is great! Wonderful atmosphere, great wine and even had some ciders and sangria! There was live music in the tasting room (which was beautiful by the way). I think the best part was our interaction with the staff. Jan was so hospitable and great to talk to, really made our night! Highly recommended if in the area!

The first time we came here was an excellent experience. We went today waiting for the winery to open. Came with our kids who have plastic toy guns. Without saying hi or explaining anything, the owner angrily came out and said we were damaging his property and stormed off. Horrible customer service and horrible attitude. There's no way a plastic gun would damage their acres of property. Would not come here again because of the attitude. It's a disappointment to be treated that way.Edit: Yes, I do feel this way. The exact way this communication happened is you staying 20 feet away from us as if we were shooting real guns or pellets. You could have first said hello, how are you guys, sorry we don't allow this. Surprised at the way you handled it.

Maria L — Google review

Lovely family owned and operated historic winery. I probably dived in deeper into the operations than most patrons, but highly recommend. I love to see ‘mom & pop’ places succeed.I’m not saying every years crop is perfect, but like every vineyard, they do the best with what they’re given.I’d love to see unique hybrid grape strains! If PC Winery is interested, I know a person. 😉

Brittany W — Google review

Nice location not far off I-66 with vineyards and mountains as backdrops. They were having an event when we went so you could taste wine, beer and cider and they had a good BBQ food vendor. We enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the afternoon breeze. The peach float was very interesting but that may be just a seasonal/event offering. Worth a visit.

William P — Google review

Beautiful place but tours are not as advertised. The “private wine education tour” we paid for was $110 for 2 people and said it was a private tour, but we were on a group tour that according to the website was $60 for 2 people. So we paid $50 more than we needed to. The picnic was nice but did not include the Virginia chutney and chocolates, and we did not receive the complimentary cork screw and tasting glasses. We also paid an additional $50 for two glasses of wine, since a glass is included in the tour. Overall a beautiful spot and nice place but would not recommend paying for the private tour.

For my birthday I was gifted a Groupon for a winery tour and tasting. Absolutely delicious. All of the staff were friendly, the wine was delicious and the views breath taking. 10/10 recommend

I gave one star because that's the only way I could leave a review! I was there yesterday the guy working was rude, disrespectful and seemed like he didn't even want to be there! Not to mention it was dirty amd nasty! I git uo and left and won't be returning or recommended this place to anyone!!!

Frank E — Google review

We were gifted a picnic and tour at this winery and cannot speak more highly of it. The views are incredible, the picnic was delicious, and the staff were so knowledgeable. We bought a bottle and can’t wait til we come back to try more wines! Wonderful winery.

Naomi L — Google review

We selected a four wine and six wine flight for our tasting so we could sample most of their options. The wine server did an excellent job and even gave us a sample of their port-style which was a wine we discussed, but ran out of slots. I like their flights being in easy to carry plastic, but we also got a glass to pour each sample into so that the taste was not impacted. Very good wines, worth a visit!

Dan B — Google review

Start with positives. Beautiful property, lots of seating outside.Negatives: wine is expensive for what it is, we tried three and can't say we loved any. The sangria was just terrible, mostly sprite or whatever soda. They were understaffed at the time, and they are doing small plastic cups for tasting, which is a lot of plastic waste plus you can't smell or really taste the wine, so we decided against tasting.

Natalie K — Google review

Went for the first time today! The staff was fantastic! Everyone was super nice and very educated in every step of the wine making process! I highly highly highly recommend you stop in!

Marion — Google review

What the what? When I first started going to wineries in VA many moons ago, this was one of the places. Recently while being there, the place feels really run down. The men's bathroom was destroyed. Seriously, it felt like the bathroom from Dan's Cafe in Adams Morgan, not a winery.Another disappointing part was how they're serving now. Your tasting comes in the little round plastic cups with tops that are used for salad dressing cups at Whole Foods. I get the one use during this era, but most of the wineries are using glass - and simply washing. That all said, the wines were decent. Perhaps this was an off Saturday.Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz

Gardens

The State Arboretum of Virginia, also known as the Orland E. White Arboretum, was established in 1986 and covers 172 acres of land. It boasts a diverse collection of over 5000 living trees, including more than 200 types of conifers, 162 varieties of boxwood, and a striking ginkgo grove with 300 trees. The arboretum features a cedar of Lebanon alley and an expansive herb garden.

This place is beautiful. We visited during the fall to see the ginkgo trees. It was busy but still we were able to enjoy it. There is much more to explore, so we hope to visit again. This Arboretum is free and pet friendly, and it provides parking.

Justin S — Google review

The State Arboretum of Virginia has an evil past like many historic sites in Virginia, where America's first enslaved Africans entered. The land was once a plantation that enslaved people before it was willed to the University of Virginia to train students in farming. In the 1980s, it was opened to the public as an arboretum. As you enter the area, you walk through what were likely the slave quarters. Here's what we can do as we visits sites like this with an evil past:-Acknowledge and grieve the evil inflicted on humans by humans-Ask the site to prominently display the history and its impact today so it's not ignored or belittled-Donate to organizations like The Conscious Kid as "admission"Doing all of the above, here's my experience visiting the State Arboretum of Virginia in December 2021:1) Space: The arboretum is large with a network of trails that weave through forests (including a bamboo forest), gardens, marshland and historic buildings. There are a few lookout areas with binocular stations to see birds and wildlife.2) Amenities: There's free parking in a lot and admission is free. There are public restrooms open every day and benches throughout the space. Leashed dogs are welcome. They host a number of events, including seed exchanged. They have a Little Free Library by the parking lot.If you go in the morning, drive 16 miles north to Jordan Springs Market, an award-winning, woman-owned BBQ spot inside a gas station market.

Austin G — Google review

Beautiful park with many amenities. It's lovely to see the different types of trees from Lebanon trees to the ginkgo. You can try to come in fall to see the ginkgo leaves change color. Staff are knowledgeable and there are restrooms in the quarter section.

W. L — Google review

Unique place to come for a walk and enjoy seeing all the different varieties of trees and trails from conifers to ginkos and magnolias to bamboo. There are several trails to walk through, and you can easily spend 2-3 hours seeing the grounds. There's a self-guided audio tour you can access with a QR code to help you walk through as well as maps that can be found in the parking lot across the street from the herb garden.

Lety Z — Google review

Even better than I expected! There are bathrooms, picnic tables, lots of really cool rock outcroppings, and so many big amazing trees. I can’t wait to come back!

Nikki F — Google review

Gorgeous, peaceful place and a good excursion for well behaved leashed dogs. Very busy on the weekends, at least in spring and fall. Nice little walking trails and a pastoral setting. Didn't go to the ginkos walk because there were so many people there, but even without that the rest of the place is worth a visit!

Rachel L — Google review

Cool place to visit for fall leaf viewing. The Ginko Grove is amazing with sun shining through the canopy. The scenery is fantastic around the grounds, great for photography. The Ginko Grove is about a 10 minute walk, there is nearby parking only for those with limited mobility. Recommend stopping off at Nall's Farm store not far from here for pies, apple cider doughnuts, and great produce or snacks to bring for a picnic.

BRANDON S — Google review

Worth the visit, especially being free entry! The park is expensive, well kept and relaxing. Like everywhere else with nature in the area, watch out for spring/summer ticks.

Tyler D — Google review

We were there specifically for the Gingko grove. The walk is rather long and not terribly ADA friendly. I do believe they have ATVs to transport those who have difficulty walking. Trees were beautiful.

Barrie P — Google review

Beautiful place out in the country. I almost gave it only 4 stars because it wasn't bigger! It is wide open and beautiful, but if you have young children, watch out for the cacti covering some of the large rock outcroppings.

Amanda J — Google review

Amazingly nice gardens; many plants and trees are labeled which is so helpful. The attendant let me into the meeting room (full of nice framed photos of flowers). Nicest public bathrooms I have experienced (look up at the arched window). I spent a couple hours walking around and listening to the free self-guided audio tour found on their website. Nearby is the Burwell-Morgan Mill that stone-grinds various grains on weekends, and across from it is the Locke Store with nice picnic fixin's.

This was a nice place with a good driving road around the property. The herb garden was pretty nice. I anticipated seeing more flowers in bloom but saw very little flowers in bloom. This would be a great place to go for a peaceful walk. The bamboo forest is pretty cool. If you have some time and are in the area it's not a bad place to stop. They also had some plants for sale.

I can't say enough good things about this place! The collection of Evergreen trees and their pamphlet for a self guided tour were FANTASTIC, a highlight of my vacation. I also enjoyed the herb garden and driving the loop with marked trees and there are other educational sites along it.Horseback riding is allowed and they have an area set up for corralling them, their trucks trailers all have their own designated area.

C B — Google review

Beautiful gardens, family friendly trails to walk through, educational events and many photo ops here! Highly recommend!

Jessica S — Google review

I have visited here probably 4 times in the past 2 decades, and I feel like I always found an area that I missed during my previous visits. The parking was a bit full when I arrived because there was a wedding party there. I parked next to the herb garden in the grassy parking area. The garden is very spacious, and I like the pollination garden the best, and the arboretum has so many different types of trees, and plants. I was surprised to see so much flowers considering Spring is when most flowers bloom. The meadows was pretty to walk around and the grass was cut short for ease of walking. This park is also dogfriendly. I saw so many puppies there! It was great to see dog lovers taking their dogs places instead of keeping them at home. There is an audio trail and a drive too.

Tilly L — Google review

Absolutely beautiful! So much to see! Took all 3 of my kids for a hike. They loved learning about the different plants and trees. They have bathrooms so we could take breaks and walk around for longer. The bamboo forest is a must see! Definitely worth the trip!

Carmen was so much fun (from New Orleans)!!!Enjoyed the tasting — I would give it a B+ overall — nothing bad on the classic 8 bottle tasting. Loved the port!!! Laid back and relaxed environment .Rustic decor — nice out door porch. Decent savory options as pairings for your wine.Yes, we will return!

Enjoyed a flight while relaxing on their massive deck. Wine was OK but nothing special. Good stop if hitting the rest of local wineries. Flight tasting was a bit expensive for five 2-oz. pours.

A great little winery with great hosts. We really enjoyed the fun atmosphere and Bob's stories of the names and labels of the wine. The wine was great too. Well worth the visit.

This was pleasant surprise to find while on a random road trip. My wife and I did a four wine tasting; she tasted the white/sweet wines and I tasted the dry reds. We both liked all the wines we tried. Ended up buying a couple of bottles. The owners were great hosts and some of the other guests were friendly to a couple of out of towners. Highly recommend this winery.

This is what I was looking for.I have been burnt out of the "big" wineries in the area. This unassuming quaint spot is exactly what I was looking for. My girlfriend and I were greeted with smile, warm embrace and intellectual run down of what wine they had to offer. Also loved that I could bring my Lab in with me while I got to enjoy this amazing spot. Really enjoyed how the vibe was very relaxed and not overly crowded and cramped. The tasting room has a desert/southwest theme which made for an awesome atmosphere. The wine was every bit as good as the experience. We both had a glass of the Chambourcin and left with several bottles. I will definitely be returning as long as these doors are open. Keep up the great work!

Rocking S Ranch, LLC in Winchester offers an exciting experience for horse enthusiasts with its trail rides through the foothills. History buffs will appreciate that the trails cover ground once traversed by Civil War calvaries. Visitors praise the friendly and informative owner, Bill, who provides clear instructions and makes beginners feel comfortable on their ride. The ranch also offers great local dining recommendations and beautiful scenery for a memorable experience.

We had a great ride with a great guide! Bill was easy to talk to and gave good clear instructions on how to ride the horse! I’ve never ridden a horse until this trip so it really can be for beginners! In addition to a wonderful ride, Bill offered great ideas of things to do in the area and great local restaurants to dine at! The horses were very easy to ride.

Rocking S Ranch is the best horseback riding I've ever been to! I've been to multiple horseback riding trails throughout the Virginia region and Bill at the Rocking S Ranch make your experience the absolute best!My wife and I was visiting Hillbrook Inn to celebrate our 1st year Anniversary and I saw "Rocking S Ranch" as a good activity for us. I called to asked a few questions before our trip and Bill was absolutely friendly! I could hear his excitement and friendliness through the phone. Once we got our reservation all set up and finally met him at the ranch, it felt like I was meeting up with a friend by how welcoming and friendly Bill was. My wife, who hadn't ridden a horse before, instantly felt comfortable and was ready to get on a horse because of how welcoming BIll and his nephew Jr was.We got to ride Leroy and Timber. Two beautiful horses. We followed behind Bill as he told us local stories, funny jokes, and asked us about ourselves. It felt like we were all friends just going out for a nice horse ride. We felt like we lived here and we were neighbors! The scenic route we took was amazing and Bill did a great job at taking amazing photos of us with our phones.I've made this longer than it needed to be, but we absolutely loved it!

One year ago from today my mom took me and my brother here. Little did I know this would be one of the worst days of my life. When arriving there ON TIME bill asked us if we could wait an hour because he had to go somewhere, which is 100% reasonable so we came back an hour later. He got the horses ready and after getting my mom and brother on their horses i was next. I was riding his horse LEEROY. I wasn’t even on this horse yet when he started acting funny (first red flag). After getting on Leeroy I noticed he wasn’t listening as-well as the other horses but I just ignored it I’ve never really rode a horse before so this was basically new to me. We start the trail and it was a good ride for a little until I realized Leeroy was walking ahead of the other horses and a lot faster. Bill even said he was off and I quote “he’s usually the slow one I don’t know what’s wrong with him. “ we continue on with the rail going through a river and going up mountains and on the road. Bill spoke up and said “I haven’t lost a person yet” jokingly. We were about to finish the ride about 5 minutes away from his house when we were crossing the road when Leeroy takes off charging in front of all the other horses. I was behind my mom and brother and also bill. Bill yelled for me to pull the rope back to calm Leeroy, that didn’t work. All I was thinking was “he’s gonna throw me off” and that’s exactly what happen. I landed straight on my back in the gravel. Leeroy backs away from me and I tried to stand up but could not I fell straight down. Bill yells “what did you do to him” as if I wasn’t on the grown is agonizing pain. My mom jumps off her horse and runs over to me. Bill told her to leave me on the side of the road BY MYSELF so she could put her horse back, she refused and stayed with me while my brother went back to get her car. My mom called 911 and we waited for the ambulance to get there. I can’t remember a lot after because I was in complete shock and I couldn’t move. Bill still made my mom pay for all of us…. Absolutely absurd. To this day I still struggle with my accident. I have muscle spasms (my whole body with shake uncontrollably) almost daily I’m light headed all the time, I cannot bend my back that much I just feel broken somedays. I’ve been to hospital after hospitals trying to get myself straight but all they can tell me is there’s nothing they can do and I’ll probably have these twitches for the rest of my life. I posted this not to hate but for everyone to be aware of what can happen. All the comments of people saying this is safe and fun and an EASY ride. Just please be cautious and if you have an bad feeling listen to your gut it could save your life.

Little Washington Winery and Brewery is a charming venue located in Little Washington, VA. The winery offers a polished guesthouse with refined quarters, a bar, and three fireplaces, as well as a porch with stunning mountain views. It's also an ideal location for weddings due to its gorgeous scenery and intimate feel. The winery sits on a hill, providing an amphitheater-style seating for wedding ceremonies with an absolutely spectacular view.

Have you had the pleasure of attending a Little Washington Winery class? If not, do yourself a favor and sprint on over there! We recently indulged in a delightful wine and dessert pairing extravaganza, featuring 7 wines from their winery, Boxwood Winery, and SW International Wines. The lineup of 11 scrumptious desserts included everything from decadent chocolates to heavenly cakes, truffles, and brownies. Not only was Karl, our charming host, a riot, but he was also a wealth of wine knowledge. We discovered the magic of pairing sweet wines with sweet treats - talk about a flavor explosion! The ladies in our group were absolutely tickled pink by the whole experience, diving headfirst into the world of wine pairing and soaking up every drop of information. My personal favorite pairing? The merlot with a pistachio cake - a match made in dessert heaven! And to top it all off, we even received a diploma at the end of the day - now we can officially call ourselves wine connoisseurs (or so we like to think)! We wrapped up our day sipping on a few bottles out on the patio, soaking in the stunning views and savoring every last drop. Trust me when I say, you won't regret signing up for a class or simply stopping by to enjoy the wines and the scenery. Cheers to good wine, good company, and good times!

Beautiful tasting room. Has to be one of the best views in the state. Their George wine is one of the best reds in VA, and they also have a great selection of unique wines from around the world to try. It's the perfect place to spend an afternoon, sipping wine on the porch while taking in the mountain views.

Love this winery! Great wines, great classes and amazing people! Oh and good views! Can’t say anything bad we’ve been coming back for years.

Sarah S — Google review

Me, my partner, and friends went here today the lady servicing us (brown hair and glasses) was rude when my partner asked if we could try a wine. She also refused to serve me because I had a temporary license (I’m 27 years old) and did not ask or let me clarify with her, she cut me off and said no twice and was super rude about it. I would strongly advise to not go here after the service from her today.

Carolyn L — Google review

We've taken a couple classes at this winery and visited with our children when in town. Carl is a great teacher and their wines are coveted in our family.

Diane D — Google review

There is the most fantastic view from the front porch. I will be back when it’s warmer to enjoy it! The home is decorated beautifully too and the staff is very friendly! FYI it’s no longer a B&B

Eileen S — Google review

Beautiful backdrop and plenty of land at this winery. The vibe here is very "chill". The owner engages with customers and the manager at the winery is super friendly, too. My absolute favorite wine here is the "George Meritage Reserve" which is a Bordeaux style red. This wine is absolutely outstanding! The winery often has entertainment, and we were lucky to listen to a local artist, Kiaya who is also outstanding. Highly recommend the location, the people and the wine!

John B — Google review

The Little Washington wine flight was amazing, a very well-rounded experience with a palette for all. Location was a bit hidden, but once there the view was amazing… not to mention the actual estate interior which you can explore fully and sit wherever you want! Perfect relaxing place.

Nick M — Google review

What a charming venue for a wedding! We had the pleasure to photograph a marriage celebration at Little Washington Winery and would enthusiastically recommend it to any couple who wants a wedding with gorgeous scenery, an intimate feel and lots of great wine! Because it's set on a hill, the winery offers an absolutely spectacular view. The hill itself creates something of a bowl as it runs down from the main building, which allows you to do a wedding ceremony with amphitheater-style seating. The staff are super-friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines, which not surprisingly, are great for a post-wedding celebration!

Anji P — Google review

We stopped here after a hike and it was the perfect spot. The wine selection is great, my wife was pleasantly surprised at the house wine and there were plenty of local beer options. Friendly and welcoming service. Highly recommend!

Nicholas S — Google review

Wow. What a nice experience. The wine and the tasting experience at this winery is excellent. Carl did a great job of helping us understand what we we were drinking. Beautiful home that hosts the tastings. Don’t miss this one.

Ken M — Google review

A couple of friends and I stopped here for as a treat post an 8-mile hike. It was exactly what we needed and the scenery was breathtaking. Aside from the beautiful views, the wine was equally tasty. I had the "Dirt Road Wine Club" flight -- can't remember the exact types of the flight, but were all very enjoyable. The location is great for picnics with plenty of space to social distance.

Heidi M — Google review

We were very disappointed in our visit to the Little Washington winery. The person behind the bar was either having a really bad day or was so really unhappy about something. She wasn't friendly or helpful at all. Maybe they were really shorthanded because of the July 4th weekend? Whatever the reason it was a very unfortunate experience. We ordered 2 flights of wine. We tried them and left wishing we had not make the 30 mile drive to this winery.

Brian C — Google review

I can't speak on the rooms of the place as we didnt stay here but have been here twice for wine classes. First one we did was the Italian wine one which was awesome. There was a chatty table of older adults who wouldn't stop talking which was quite obnoxious but the class itself was great. Tried 10 different wines all which had explanations for each. We just went back yesterday for the boot camp and I personally thought that class was better. Very informative about how wines are made, pairings of both food and chocolates. The owner taught the classes and he is honestly the main reason they are as enjoyable as they are. We will be coming back for more classes for sure. Do yourself a favor and also take one!

Nestled in the Shenandoah mountains, Copper Fox Distillery offers a unique experience for whiskey enthusiasts. The distillery's smoky applewood-aged whiskey is a standout feature, and visitors can enjoy tours and tastings of their premium flights. The rustic space pays homage to the building's roots, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the outdoor cocktail garden by the river provides a relaxing setting to savor their exceptional spirits.

Had gone for what seemed like a never ending hike before coming here and all we wanted to do was sit and have a cocktail- it didn’t disappoint. They have tables outside right along a creek/river/stream/babbling brook- I could have sat there all day. It was so peaceful. The cocktails were strong and delicious. We’re in the area for a few more days and we’ll definitely return for another drink.

Jess S — Google review

It’s a very nice distillery you would want to come and sit by the creek enjoying the tranquil sound of the water running. It’s so soothing after a long hike. Get some refreshments or drinks. Hubby says the cocktails are very very good! 👍

Angela Z — Google review

What a great experience. We were greeted at the door and explained about the distillery. The shop was nice. We went outside to enjoy a drink and discovered a relaxing river view. Steve the cat joined us and kept us company. We were very impressed and will be back.

Steven B — Google review

I spent a week in the Shenandoah mountains alone, a true getaway. While exploring the valley to see what there was to experience, I came across this place and decided I had to check it out. I have rarely made a better decision. The whisky was phenomenal top to bottom, I tried both the regular flight and premium flight and was disappointed with none of it. The staff was warm and welcoming, service was excellent, and the setting… the setting was unbeatable. The riverside bar was everything I needed. Prices are excellent, quality is absurd, and I can’t recommend this highly enough. I’m now on a quest to get the state of Alabama to try to bring this into distribution so I can buy it at my local liquor store instead of driving 950 miles! Do yourself a favor, try Copper Fox… You gotta do it!

Stopped here while on a Route 211 winery tour. Beautiful rustic location. We got a flight of whiskey, all good, but the cinnamon whiskey was very good.

Barbara T — Google review

Some of the best whiskey I have tried in one of the most serene locations. The staff at the distillery were friendly and knowledgable. I tried the premium flight to experience their more interesting products. The port style rye may be one of my favorite whiskeys to date. We sat out back next to a trickling stream that made for a fantastically peaceful experience.

Tim F — Google review

This is a must stop place to see and try if you are into distillery/tastings. I got the flight and pirate lemonade. Everyone was nice and the atmosphere was just perfect. If I had to be nit picky, I would add a bug attractor away from the guest area to deter the disturbances of bugs. All in all, will definitely return!

Kong — Google review

We all had a great time, you should definitely make this a stop if you are in the area. Good drinks, service and the price is totally acceptable.

Christopher L — Google review

This place has a great vibe and awesome whisky sours. I highly recommend you take your drink out back and sit by the creek. Service was really slow when we went but that was because it was busy, which doesn't surprise us because it is an awesome spot!

Sarah C — Google review

Awesome experience! Beautiful location with great spirits and service. Highly recommend the cocktails. Our group tried the new painkiller and it was delicious! Very dog friendly and the outside space is absolutely beautiful. Would visit again!

Lisa A — Google review

Excellent visit here. Very friendly staff. We enjoyed the tour and had 2 flights after the tour. The back story is really cool- motel turned distillery! The whiskeys we sampled were very solid. The tour was well done and had a good flow to it. One thing: our tour guide used a couple of 4 letter words on the tour. We prefer keeping it professional but that’s just us. We’d recommend a visit here and will definitely be back.

Josh R — Google review

Went on a tour last Sunday at Williamsburg location and had such a nice time. Gabriel was such a good tour guide and has a great sense of humor. We truly enjoyed learning about the Whisky making process and touring the distillery. Such a great date! Seeing the process and smelling the aromas of freshly distilled spirits was quite nice. Ending up our tour with a stop in the bar and enjoying a flight of the Whisky and one of the best Whisky sours that I have ever had. We truly had a great time!

Copper Fox in Sperryville has all the aspects of a hidden gem! A very large door opens to an intimate and rustic interior. Live music was starting up when we visited. The staff were super welcoming as soon as we entered. The back patio was the coolest part, with plenty of seating next to a beautiful little creek.Their most popular pour, the 90 proof rye, is a must try. Their gin is actually malty and it's made in a pot still, which made it taste very unique. We were also really liked the amaro liqueur which we got in our flights. We're very excited to come back.

Timothy M — Google review

Visited the distillery in Sperryville. Really cool place to relax and get a whisky flight or cocktail. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and super chill. Loved the inside decor- comfortable and welcoming. They have some games and cards you could use and a nice place outside to sit. It was very cold when we visited so we opted to stay inside. We both liked the whiskey flights. My fav was the Copper Fox original Rye. II would have loved to try a cocktail too but was driving. Give 'em a try if you are in the area!

Sue F — Google review

A delightful, unassuming location. When you pull up, you might think your GPS took you to the wrong location, because you will be surrounded by old warehouses. Rest assured, you're in the right spot! Follow the sign to the distillery, and head in the main doors to be greeted in a rustic space that pays homage to the building's roots. If it's a nice day, head out back for a nice surprise - a cocktail garden alongside the river! The menu is loaded with tasty cocktail options for you to enjoy, as well as a couple spirit flights. I'd personally recommend the premium flight because it contains some of the best local whiskey expressions I've had. While you're in the garden, you may be joined by one of the distillery's cats, which can provide extra entertainment if they're in a hunting mood.

Josh B — Google review

What a wonderful find! We were heading back home from a weekend adventure and happened upon this distillery during the Sperryville Festival we spotted as we were passing by. Our drinks were superb and the atmosphere so relaxing! Thanks Rick for your hospitality. I recommend you stop in if you enjoy unique beverages, good people, and comfortable atmosphere.

Older W — Google review

Wide array of flavors to taste from. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Rye and XO were my favorites.Did bother the standard and premium spirt tastings.

Andrew S — Google review

We discovered an absolute hidden gem here! Despite arriving just an hour before closing, the manager (whose name escapes me) delivered exceptional service. He led us on a delightful tour, enlightening us about the whiskey-making process. I can't wait to return with friends and family to share this cozy and inviting atmosphere. Many thanks for a truly wonderful experience!

Andreina B — Google review

We stopped in for a mid-week tour and tasting and were not at all disappointed! Sean was a delight to spend time with as he talked and walked us through the story of Copper Fox, as well as the processes they employ for making their incredible whiskies. We also met Rick and he was such a kind and generous host. We enjoyed some flight tastings out back overlooking the flowing stream on a lovely day. Time well spent! We will be back.

Caleb N — Google review

Nice little surprise along our drive today! This distillery had a nice cocktail list, beautiful view out their back door with a babbling brook, and the atmosphere inside was also very inviting. The four of us enjoyed a couple hot totties and old fashions. These were the best drinks of our whole vacation. If you have the opportunity make a stop at Copper Fox, you won’t be disappointed.

Rebekah C — Google review

Copper Fox Distillery was a very cool find! My boyfriend and I enjoyed delicious cocktails during sunset after hiking Old Rag. We were the only ones there and enjoyed sitting by the river watching the cat roam around. The inside had some of the most interesting decor too. Their Old Fashion was one of the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend!

Nina M — Google review

Even though it was just myself, I had a great time trying the different whiskeys Copper Fox provided. They had a wide variety of flavor profiles. So I’m sure visitors will find something they enjoy. I enjoyed the Chestnut American and bought a bottle while I was there. I also bought an Age Your Own Whiskey kit that I can’t wait to do. The atmosphere was great and will be more enjoyable with friends and family.

Waterfall

Nature & Parks

Dark Hollow Falls is a popular hike in Shenandoah National Park, offering picturesque cascading waterfalls over greenstone. The relatively short and easy 1.4-mile trail leads to one of the tallest waterfalls in the park. While the hike down is relatively easy, the uphill return may be challenging for some. The trail features scenic overlooks with unobstructed views of the Valley and several large falls at the bottom.

Beautiful waterfall! It was not hard hiking to the bottom of a waterfall and back. We did it with kids, 5, 8, 10, 11 years old. Kids did it with small breaks in a way back. Beautiful wives. It took us about 30 minutes to go all the down, and about 45 minutes go up. Enjoy!!!

Alexander S — Google review

Short, but steep hike. Moderately difficult I'd say. The falls was beautiful in December. Exercise caution when you hike this during winters as there were few spots covered with slippery ice. No crowd when were there. Very relaxing.

Saiprabhu B — Google review

We went for round hike from the visitor Center at the big meadows. The trail said loop of 1.8 miles and it’s not wheelchair accessible. The path is moderate difficult but my 6 year old enjoyed crossing the creek and walking up and down the trail. We couldn’t go the higher overlook but definitely enjoyed the waterfall from lower overlook. Next time we might go see the higher overlook as well. The path crosses the creek where the waterfall start and full of tree shades.

Babita — Google review

Dark Hollow Falls is one of my favorite waterfall hikes in the Shenandoah national park. I recommend this hike for anyone looking for a medium to rigorous hike. The hike down to the falls is easy, getting back to your vehicle however is a steep climb. I recommend this trail during the week, and very very early during the weekend. Dark Hollow is a very popular waterfall and the parking and trail will fill up quickly with tourists.

Carl C — Google review

FANTASTIC HIKE. our kids did this (10/12) and we loved the hiking down, the water fall, and just being in the mountains. The climb up is rugged but it is a super nice trail and i love that it feels like you're nature.

Matt C — Google review

Do make it to the top. It’s calmer and quieter here. Look up and around and take in the beauty.

User 1 — Google review

This hike is honestly not that easy, there were so many large rocks on the trail, so much of an incline and the steps that were man made were very uneven. They highly recommend this hike and there were several elderly folks on the trail when I went and i think it should be noted that it’s just not a trail for everyone. I have been on several other hikes with MUCH better views and easier access. Also, there were SO MANY people that the view was not very enjoyable and the water fall itself wasn’t anything spectacular.

Kylie C — Google review

Overall it’s amazing and wonderful and would be 5/5 if it wasn’t for humans being humans.PLEASE READ THESE TIPS!!!-A lot of disrespectful foreigners that you need to be wary off.(Carry a weapon)-There is not enough parking so you will have to park in the grass or fight for a spot (Some foreigners started a fight)-Be patient and wait your turn because everyone runs to the waterfalls.(The further down you go, the less people)Just know that a lot of people swim in the waterfall so they don’t leave for hours!(It’s not even that deep of water)Pros: There is a waterfall every 5 minutes and feels like it never stops. There are no pets allowed so you don’t have to worry about that. You’re allowed to play in the waterfall, but be warned a lot of dirty people do this. The actual hike splits off into many different hikes, giving a large variety. It’s a pretty short hike to see the waterfall and not hard at all.Cons: Too many people know about the spot, causing a long line at each waterfall. There is an abnormal amount of foreigners that do not respect other humans and have no manners. There were fish in the small area by the waterfall, causing foreigners to kill them for some odd reason. The hike gets confusing dependent on what way you go, so be wary of the different routes. The only markers are different color markings on the trees and the occasional sign every 2 miles.

Raymond B — Google review

Wonderful hike down the side of the national park. A pretty long hike ...bring drinks and a snack to keep refreshed

Becky P — Google review

Short walk to falls. A stream follows you right through the trial. Towards the end is steep, but you will enjoy. Return needs effort and we will sweat. Worth the workout. 😊

Diwakkar S — Google review

Beautiful trails that start going downhill (so yes, your return is all uphill). It's a relatively short trail about 1.5 miles roundtrip that has a cascade of scenic falls that lead to some very nice streams. It does cost $30 for a week pass to enter Shenandoah National Park. There are many scenic overlooks along the way that provide unobstructed views of the Valley. I highly recommend this trail and Falls but get there early to avoid the crowds especially around the Falls.

Brian R — Google review

This is a great creshending set of falls that start at the top at the trailhead and become step falls the farther you go down. Down at the bottom there are several large falls to view. It is under 3 miles round trip. Not for the faint of heart. You can go in at the trailhead and then come out on the other side via the fire trail. It is not real steep but uphill, and you will have a one mile trip up the main road to the trail head. The total round trip is about 4 mile. There are other falls close by to Dark Hollow. All I can say is come prepared. Temperature is nice in the summer at higher elevation. Parking is difficult during the summer months. Overall a great hike for my wife and I. Highly recommended.

Leonard T — Google review

It was easy hike two way around an hour from skyline drive. We went in October and fall was not that big but very beautiful surrounded by all fall colorful foliage. Def will come back again during spring or summer to see heavy three tier fall.

Preeti S — Google review

Amazing hike. Not to bad at all. This was the first hike I did upon arrival. Not busy, it was a Thursday afternoon. Plenty of photographs to be taken!

Adam — Google review

Short hike, but a tough climb back up to the trailhead. Beautiful falls. Really breathtaking. We went early in the day as we figured this was a busy trail. Didn’t have any problem parking at 8:30am, but the lot was very full throughout the late morning and afternoon (weekend).

Madeline R — Google review

Short, relatively easy hike down. May be challenging on the hike back up for less physically active individuals. No dogs on this trail. Beautiful falls.

Trudi H — Google review

Really nice place to visit. Not too crowded on a Friday morning. The hike is nice, but bumpy and uneven path. If you're not used to hiking it's a bit intense climbing back up the trail. But worth it. My little kids did it and had fun. The waterfall is really pretty. I wanted to stay there and hang out longer but it's a small area so it can get crowded and you have to give courtesy to others and can't take up space there for too long.

Fareha H — Google review

A very nice trail. I loved it. It took around 4 hours for ne to finish the trail loop.

Amir B — Google review

We did this hike at the end of October. It was cloudy and drizzling that day but I still enjoyed this hike throughly. The autumn color was perfect. I would rate this hike as easy. The incline was gradual through out the hike. One of my friends who did this hike with me was pregnant. She was able to do this hike with breaks intermittently.

Linda I — Google review

This is a very crowded trail without any other views but only some small waterfalls down the steep and slippery long trail. When I saw the waterfalls, I felt quite disappointed (my daughter said it was the saddest waterfalls she’d ever seen. 😂 ) After that, you have to climb up the same trail to get back to the parking lot.I won’t suggest you to take this hike if you are not very physically fit. Also, wear anti slippery hiking shoes/boots and better take hiking poles with you to keep from slipping if you go.The trail from the parking lot to the waterfalls and back is about 1.9 miles. Prepare to spend 1.5-2 hours. Seems late afternoon has the busiest traffic.

These vast underground tunnels have been forming for millions of years and showcase stunning natural wonders such as colossal stone formations, crystal clear pools, glistening draperies, and soaring stone columns. Visitors can tour the caverns and marvel at 140-ft. natural columns, colorful stalactites, and brick walkways.

The most beautiful and largest cave in the East coast you must see! It would take about an hour to walk through the cave but we really enjoyed every moment of it! Although it was crowded, it’s still plenty rooms and opportunities for you to taking pictures! Great place!

Beautifully located and situated. First time visiting with my parents and 6-year-old niece and it was an overall great trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the caverns, however, adjusting to the smell took some time. I have allergies and asthma and both were mildly triggered 🤧 as well as my father’s and niece's. So if you suffer from either or, you may want to keep your inhaler on hand or take your allergy medicine before entering. Other than that, fascinating stalagmite and stalactite formations. The Cafe and Toys food was simple, but it was good. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a pink lemonade. The toppings and condiments must be added yourself via the condiment/toppings station. I tasted some of my niece's broccoli and cheddar soup and I have to say that it was pretty good; I recommend it.

This place was so beautiful. The caves were spectacular to walk through. They have the walking paths build out really nicely. It’s easy to walk through for anyone. There are also other things to see and fun activities for kids. A maze, ropes course, and rock house to name a few. It was a great time.

Monica N — Google review

Best part was the temperature down there. Wish some of the employees were more welcoming when being asked questions. Young lady, working a stop before the cathedral on Sunday Father’s Day. She was very knowledgeable and helpfulWould have been nice to have them turn of the lights like they did back in the day.If you do plan on going make sure you have something else to do in the area. Not worth going there just for that. Especially if you’re coming from the dmv.

Phenomenal! Amazing! Fantastic! Magical! These caverns are well worth the visit. I am so impressed with the natural beauty here. The caverns are about 450 million years old. They are immense and vast. It was like being in a strange new world. There was a brick path throughout the caverns that was very well maintained and easy to walk on. The lighting was perfect. Everything was very well done and the employees were friendly. There was also a big gift shop. This is a must see.

Sharon D — Google review

Amazing experience! The Caverns was a self-guided tour for about an hour or so. We took several of photos and admired the beautiful surroundings. Afterwards, we went to the gift shop and got a couple souvenirs. Don't forget the museums and of course the MAZE. That was hilarious! We went with 2 others so 2 and 2 split and figured we'd see who can get out first 😂 It was fun!

User D — Google review

Loved the caverns on a very hot weekend in Virginia (visiting from Wisconsin). Beautiful caverns, wasn’t super crowded. I was able to take plenty of pictures without strange people in the frame. The tickets get you to other attractions on the grounds, we loved the car museum and just walking around the grounds. Relatively short drive (around 90 mins, but beautiful countryside roads from NOVA). Highly recommend visiting.

Evguenia E — Google review

I've been to multiple caverns in multiple states, and can say Luray is definitely one of the bestReasonably priced self guided tour- mid 30s.Took about 45 minutes to walk throughThe path seemed nearly endless. It's so big!!Huge souvenir shopTicket includes admission into the car museum. So glad I visited. Very cool historic and classic carriages and automobilesHighly recommend

John — Google review

Spendy but very nice area. Luckily the admission covers more than just the caves and there are other things to do and see. Caves are cool, but it was not cold. Definitely worth it when it’s been a 100 degrees outside. Very easy to navigate even with a 7 month pregnant wife. Unguided so we were able to go at our own pace.

Luray Caverns is a fantastic place to visit. The caverns are stunning, with beautiful rock formations that showcase the wonders of nature. The tour was well-organized, and the best part is that the site is easily accessible for everyone, including those with strollers.Beyond the caverns, the ticket includes access to other attractions that I thoroughly enjoyed. Toy Town Junction is a delightful spot to see a mix of old and new toys, all thoughtfully displayed. The Car & Carriage Caravan Museum features well-maintained vintage cars from the early days of engines, presented in an attractive way. The Shenandoah Heritage Village offers a realistic walk through historic American village life, complete with homes, schools, and town halls. Overall, it was a well-rounded and enjoyable experience.

AJINKYA P — Google review

I loved visiting Luray Caverns! I was debating on whether or not to go, but everyone told me how incredible it is and I’m so glad I listened. The formations are incredible and the path is easy to walk on. We went on a Sunday morning right when they opened, and within an hour the crowds were CRAZY so I highly recommend going right at opening time! Our experience would’ve been ruined by crowds had we gone later in the day. The museums included in admission are totally worth visiting as well! Gorgeous old buildings, cars, and mountain views.

River B — Google review

Wow! Incredible. I admit that I thought it was a bit pricey but definitely worth the experience. The walk through the caverns was really cool. It probably took an hour to walk through and see it all. The car museum is included and really cool too. Ropes course was also fun!

Tom C — Google review

Great place to visit as a family, it was amazing to see such formations that were over 7 million years old, the entire cavern is about a mile long and take about an hour to complete.I would also recommend visiting the toy museum and the car museum which are also on-site.There is also a maze there which I did not do but it seemed fun

Maaviya F — Google review

Great place to see cave formations! Kid and mobility friendly. There is a total of 1.5 mi walk, sloped paved trail with hand rails available many places, but no benches or bathrooms along the way. A couple behind us had a stroller, and another with a cane. They have a sign limiting backpacks, food and drink - but hand carry a water bottle is okay. Self guided with brochure to read at numbered stops, and guides at various locations along one way path that will talk with you if interested. We had no wait, ticket $30+/per, and we took hour and half with a slow mosey walk. The reflecting lake, giant columns, drapery, and large chambers are best features to view. Museums included with ticket, but we chose other plans. Gift shop at entrance/exit. No steps - but ramps and slopes.

Nicole W — Google review

This is a more natural cavern than Skyline. We've been to both and prefer Luray. It's a 1 1/4 mile walk though a nicely lit pathway down to the bottom of the cavern and back up. It is so beautiful and a cool 54 degrees. It is now a self guided tour that you walk at your own pace and read a pamphlet that tells you about interesting things along the way. It took s an hour to do the tour, but there is a lot of other things to see there like a toy museum, a car museum (which was pretty interesting) and a garden maze (which cost $10 extra and takes about an hour to go through). The scenery outside the cavern is picturesque and they had ducks to feed. We had a great time.

Becky — Google review

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!We took the unguided tour & they have workers stationed every so often. I highly recommend it, definite must see. the car and the toy museum are 100% worth visiting as well.

Sharon G — Google review

We had an amazing time visiting the cave! It's one of the few we have found with no stairs. My wife has knee issues but had no problem exploring the cave. We loved the car museum too! I was surprised at the rarity of some of the cars they have. Overall we loved it and it was one of the highlights of our big summer trip.

Michael B — Google review

Awesome experience! Great for the whole family though keep in mind they do NOT allow touching in the caves. It took us an hour and half to walk the entire tunnel. It was cool for a jacket but not freezing. Tons of parking spaces (which is free) and bathrooms available. They do have food and drink options as well as gift shops. They also have a maze to walk through and high walk but you will need to buy tickets for those separately. You can get a military discount with proof of ID and you do not need to buy tickets in advance though you can.

Kendall B — Google review

Luray Caverns is an AMAZING cave! This is a stunningly beautiful cave FULL of formations from beginning to end. There were many moments where we were amazed walking through the passages. Some formations are enormous and impressive. We drove 5 and a half hours all the way from New York City but man, once we saw the cave it was so worth it! We liked it so much that we went again the next day.The hike through the cave is easy and something I find cool about the cave is that it actually feels refreshing inside there, the temperature is a constant 54F year around.SUPER recommended. Especially if you are a person who loves nature. Prepare to be amazed!

Visiting this ethereal destination is an adventure like no other. The vast area spans about a mile of trails that wind through enchanting landscapes, filled with ups and downs that both challenge and delight. As you explore, each step engages your senses and stimulates your mind, creating a truly immersive experience. Whether you're a nature lover, an adventurer, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, this magical place offers a unique blend of beauty and tranquility that will leave a lasting impression.

Al H — Google review

We have been here a number of times. The place just gets better. The cave portion now has an easy access instead of steep concrete stairs, and the route inside is vastly improved along with the lighting. The toy and car museums are very nice, the maze was excellent with mist spray all throughout for the very hot day we were there. The rope excursion was great for my grandson, and the historic village and winery were a nice way to end the day. This is a great family place with beautiful mountain scenery. A must do.

Glen M — Google review

This is an awesome place to see the spectacular stalactites! At first I thought the ticket was a bit expensive compared to other places but after we toured the whole place, we felt it totally worth it! The touring paths were well built to allow tourists see everything at different levels. Already recommended it to several friends.

N W — Google review

Fantastic place to go and visit with the family. Is a bit humid inside since there’s really no cool air flow. You might get a bit warm, it’s about an hour walk with stopping to take pictures in between. They give you a guide map as well if you would like to read about the cavern. It was great, but a lot of walking! Make sure your young ones can handle a lot of walking.

Lauren — Google review

Luray Caverns exceeded my wildest expectations! The caves are immense and take quite about an hour to walk through and appreciate. There are some massive open halls, many stalactites/stalagmites of all sizes, and really amazing reflecting pools. I’ve been to other caverns, but this was the most impressive. We also took the time to complete the garden maze, which was extremely well done. My young children enjoyed it very much, but the adults had at least as much fun.Highly recommend this place, and will visit again if we return to the area at some point.

Braxton B — Google review

Very fun experience for our family. My son really enjoyed the Maze! Sadly he was to small to do the tree top adventure but maybe next time we are there he can. The toy and car museums were also very fun and cool to walk through. And ofcourse the cave, absolutely beautiful! I promise you will have a great time!

Zach B — Google review

Awesome place to spend the day... On a hot day it feels cool down under ... Nice set up with a path along the caves that make it easy to navigate through it. Some parts are very narrow or with not a whole lot of room above your head but plenty of light illumination makes it easy to tell yourself to be careful.

The Car and Carriage Caravan Museum features antique and vintage cars, including an 1892 Mercedes-Benz and a 1908 Baker Electric. It is a great thing to do alongside visiting the Luray Caverns!.

Small car museum but lots crammed into it all. Amazing cars, it had some of the rarest and important vehicles in vehicle history. Some of Roosevelt’s vehicles. There were several cars worth a few million dollars each. Amazing collection.

Deb C — Google review

If you're a car enthusiast, the Luray Caverns and Caravan Museum is an absolute must-visit. The sheer scale of the classic car collection is mind-boggling. I spent hours exploring the vast display of vintage vehicles, from sleek sports cars to sturdy American classics. The museum's curators have done an exceptional job of preserving and showcasing these automotive treasures. Each car tells a story, and the detailed descriptions and historical context add depth to the experience. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just a casual admirer, you're sure to find something to appreciate.I can honestly say that this was one of the best car museums I've ever been to. It's a testament to the passion and dedication of the people who have worked to create such an impressive collection.

This is such a cool historic car museum! I'm not at all a car guy but really enjoyed looking at all of these older cars! Lots of cool designs and crazy to see how we have advanced over the years.

This museum is part of the ticket when you visit Luray Caverns. You will enjoy this museum if you like cars and Engineering. There are many old interesting vehicles inside which re maintained well and some are even apparently in working condition. There's also a souvenir shop and some food stands at the doors.

Ashvin P — Google review

This Museum is for Car lovers only!!! A very good collection of old, vintage and amazing cars of reputed brands showcased at this place. Ford, Rolls Royce, Chervolet, Buik, Stanley, Baker brand cars from the 18th and 19th centuries displayed in the museum. It's a very rare collection of cars. Don't worry about the ticket as it's included in the Luray Caverns Ticket. You can spend half an hour in the museum.

Amol M — Google review

This old car tour was very impressive for something unexpectedly included with my Luray cave tour ticket. Walk took 10 minutes. By stopping quite a few times to take photos for this review and/or to read about the car. I’m really not a car-guy but seeing the history of “cars” from covered carriages to modern day automobiles was very cool.

Carl T — Google review

This tiny but really cool Museum, is a part of your entrance fee when you pay for admittance to Luray Caverns, and it's a great way to continue your visit after finishing with your tour of the beautiful Caverns. As soon as you enter, the automobiles are arranged chronologically, and with each step, it takes you through history. The cars are in fantastic shape, and eye candy to those who can appreciate their place in history.

Big D — Google review

This is a nice little museum. It’s included with cost of admission to the caverns on the same property. It’s probably a little bit too small as a stand alone attraction, but it’s worth the time to pass through and look around at these old rides while you’re there. One unique thing I liked was the old shop stuff, like the tire vulcanizer, the coil tester, and vintage gas pump. It would be cool if there were more and/or a tour guide(perhaps recorded on a device so you could listen with ear buds). The old kid stuff was interesting. They have a souvenir/gift shop here too.

K L — Google review

We had no idea what we would be walking into after seeing the caverns. Thought it would be a small cash grab of an exhibit but it was actually quite impressive. It was so cool to see the array of carriages and cars and how they have evolved throughout history. Very beautiful exhibit. Highlights include the steam powered fire engine, the elegant 1800’s sleigh, and the incredible 1932 Rolls Royce that was used for hunting (and cost what would equal a million dollars now). Highly recommend.

Greedymuppet — Google review

This was a very interesting place and amazing how well these cars are taken care of and how little they cost back in the day. It is free with the caverns ticket.

Jawana W — Google review

The car museum was an unexpected delight. Even for those not particularly inclined towards cars, the collection was impressive. From vintage classics to modern marvels, the museum showcased a diverse array of automobiles. The attention to detail and the historical context provided for each vehicle spoke volumes about the dedication and care put into curating this exhibit. In summary, Luray Caverns offers a dual delight - a journey through nature's time-honored masterpiece and a captivating tour of automotive history.

Vinutha G — Google review

I loved the experience inside the place. The cars are arranged chronologically. There is a float and even an RR. The cars are in excellent condition. It is worth visiting and seeing each of the cars in detail. The place is small but has what you need. They even have mannequins dressed in period clothing. They have a wide variety of cars.

José C — Google review

An amazing collection of vintage cars maintained in pristine condition. They have one of the oldest commercially produced Mercedes Benz, lots of carriages, Ford, Chevy etc… They have a couple of cars brands that I never heard of.This place is a car enthusiast’s dream. The only drawback is that some of the lights are not well positioned and the place is super crammed.

Viswanathan R — Google review

The Luray Valley Car and Carriage Museum is an absolute gem 💎, I would call it a car lovers paradise. While the museum is only small, it does make up with some very special exhibits that I have not seen before. The cars are in great condition and well looked after. If you are visiting the Luray Caverns and not taking the time to visit the car museum, you are letting the best in life go by.

Unexpected little gem of old vehicles museum included in Luray Caves ticket.Small space filled with cars - likely would be better in larger space allowing to examine cars from multiple directions.Still, great selection in fantastic condition.

Sam A — Google review

A big collection of vintage cars to attract the car lovers. All the 1900 century cars and how the technology advanced from there to now-a-days are well presented in the packed museum. Bonus is free admission with the Luray cavern ticket and you don’t have to pay additional fees.

Route 11 Potato Chips is a must-visit destination for potato lovers and snack enthusiasts. Located in Mt. Jackson, VA, this factory offers free samples of their kettle-cooked potato chips and provides an opportunity to witness the chip-making process through large viewing windows. The final seasoning step involves hand-mixing by two workers, and any imperfect slices are repurposed as feed for local farm cows. The chips are fried in sunflower oil, adding to their unique flavor.

The sample sizes of the chips are whole bags, loved that. My favorite were definitely the Mama Zuma. Got a big bag of those and the assortment bag of all the others.

Always a fun stop when out in this area. I love their story and their potato chips. The staff is always so friendly and helpful.

Larry A — Google review

I enjoy seeing how things are made, and I enjoy factory tours especially if they are free. Did not intend to visit this location, but found out we were passing the location so we stopped in for a visit. This was a Friday around 10:30 am in early March, and there were no other customer / bus tours there at the time. Two staff members were on hand to answer any questions, explain the chip making process, and offer samples if we wanted them. Unfortunately photographs are not allowed, which is too bad I would have liked to have shown my family back homeHow potato chips are made but that's fine. I purchased a mini combo pack which is 10 different flavours of 2 oz sized bags for about $15

Tammy F — Google review

This place was awesome! The people there are very knowledgeable and always have a smile on their face. The chips are the best! You can watch their process behind glass. It's really cool.

Scott E — Google review

Wow, mind blown! In the age of automation they’ve not only kept on their employees, but they all seemed super happy to be working there. The tour was really fun—highly recommend! And the chips—THE CHIPS ARE DELICIOUS! If you get the chance to eat some fresh off the line, do—it’s life changing. It’s so cool seeing potatoes that yesterday were in the ground a few miles from the factory, and now are in a bag in my hand. Thank you for the delightful experience! I’ll be back soon!

Tom B — Google review

Greatest pit stop for a quick pop in esp for potato lovers 🥔 counter people will give a truly micro tour of the viewing windows where you see the sliced potatoes in action glory! Did you know the following things learned from this tour? The final seasoning step is mixed by hand by two workers, one sprinkles, the other hand tosses. The green and fail slices get fed to local farm cows. Chips are fried in sunflower oil. $6.50 for three chip grab bag, no choices take what’s given. FREE samples after “tour”, can try all the flavors! T-shirt’s and other gifty items for sale.

This stop was recommended by our bed & breakfast, and we had a great time. They were not making chips the day we stopped by, but they did have picture displays. Arturo was a great guide. He was able to answer all my wild questions. After the little picture tour, we were offered a basket of samples. I think each sample was 1 oz. We choose 6 of the 9 flavors for our flight of potato chips.

Robert C — Google review

I have a friend who loves these potato chips, but she does not live in Virginia and finds them hard to get. She asked me to stop by here and get her a bag. I wasn't sure which one, so I took a few photos and sent them to her. The employees here are wonderful, and very patient. we chatted while I waited for my friend to respond. Nice little shop, friendly, atmosphere, and accessible to all.

Route 11 Potato Chips has some of the best chips in the game, so I decided to take an impromptu road trip to their factory in Mt. Jackson, VA.From Monday to Saturday you can watch how the potato chip process takes place through the large windows strategically placed throughout the factory.Free 1 ounce samples are provided so you can narrow down which bag of chips you want to purchase.I walked away with a big ole’ bag of sour cream and onion chips that I enjoyed on my drive home

The T — Google review

Took our family to the factory based on a recommendation from another young family we know. It was a very cool experience. Would definitely recommend the visit and the chips are absolutely delicious. The window tour is free and very informative. It is a working factory, so seeing the process is very neat for adults and kids. We bought a box full of the 6oz bags. Unique tastes and high quality ingredients. Highly recommended.

Super nice people and the chips are fantastic! The various flavors are really good, but honestly their plain chips and salt & vinegar were the biggest surprises for me. We don't regularly buy chips for home, but walked out with 5 bags

Gave out Route 11 Chesapeake Crab Chips during the Holidays to our customers. They were a huge hit and I had to put another order in to bring them back to the people who demanded them. The Chesapeake Crab Chips are great and they have J.O. Spice on them! Great product!

Colin M — Google review

We had a wonderful experience here! The woman working the front desk (Dulce) was welcoming and offered to tell our children all about the potato chip process even though we didn't call ahead. They enjoyed watching thru the windows and sampling all the flavors so they could pick some out to buy. This wouldn't be nearly as fun if the employees were not friendly but they were great!!! Thank you Dulce!

Kristin — Google review

I ordered a variety pack of the 2oz chips. First off, extremely easy to pick the flavors and navigate the website. When I got to the shipping portion, I noticed the “deliver later” portion. Since I didn’t want them for a few weeks, I put a later date. Route 11 staff went above and beyond, by reaching out confirming the details and answering some of my questions. They said it would only take ONE DAY to deliver - and it did. Amazing customer support and most importantly, some of the best chips in this world. I will forever recommend Route 11 Chips.

Jess H — Google review

I tried the BBQ chips and they are fabulous! Unfortunately I ordered the Chesapeake crab chips and it’s like they dumped an entire thing of salt: the chip crunch is great but I can’t eat them because all you taste is salt! I’m so disappointed. I hope the other flavors I ordered are better. DO NOT ORDER THE CRAB ONES!!

Have you been driving around enjoying VA's legendary craft brew scene; and now you're in need of a salty snack to savor? Swing by Route 11 for some bomb axe snackz - you won't regret it!Also, a great learning opportunity, fun for kids, and a must-stop for industrial food industry enthusiasts!

The chips are great. They take care to make delicious, thoughtfully prepared, well seasoned and hearty chips.Covid has made the world an interesting place. Route 11 chips is making the best of the new world. There are chips outside for the grab and go folks. There is a pick-up window for those interested in shopping. We hung outside sampling chips and enjoying a nice day.We loved the Dill Pickle chips. We enjoyed reading their post card packets for everyone. My only suggestion would be, sell some local sodas and water with the chips. Let people make it a day out there.Stop by and check them out. They love what they're doing and it shows.

Great experience. The guide was very knowledgeable Amazing process! My aunt used to make chips when I was young. It is quite a process! The chips are Delicious! There is a tasting room and you can try all flavors. My husband and I both agree Light sea salt is the best, and closest in flavor to homemade!
